Rather the difference is the aggression with which people hijack discussions, and freak the fuck out about dissenting opinions.
It’s like anime game fans, they tend to be hypersensitive and lash out at anyone who disses their games… I presume its because they’ve been treated as the communities collective bitch for years and years now, that’d put anybody on edge.
Now imagine, if that AH3 or Melty hardcore fan went around jumping into and making as many discussions as possible about their game, and then got mad at people for disagreeing? Its pretty natural for people to find that annoying.
to put it the other way, the 2 big crusades right now are Skullgirls and Netcode. Certain malefactors like to aggressively install them into every discussion, and people naturally get tired of having their discussions derailed into the same ol' same ol' that those discussions entail.Honestly, even if I totally didn’t love Skullgirls’ style and game play I’d still be willing to support it just based on how it’s been developed. Take that experience that Keits had. He mentions that on a demo build that some characters are hard to tell apart, for colorblind people, due to lighting. The very next build he sees, Mike tells him they changed the lighting and asks how he likes it now. He mentioned something he picked up one day where the infinite protection system kicked in when it wasn’t supposed to, and the next day Mike Z had it fixed.I was in the forums when, I believe, Mr.X said it’d be cool if you had to hold the pause button to prevent accidental pauses mid match. Mike Z saw the post, liked the idea, and it was in the game instantly. DaRabidDuckie, the modder that SRK had a donation drive for, burnt the heck out of one of his eyeballs last year at Seasons Beatings. Reverge put a pallet for his favorite character in the game specifically to his liking.
I just don’t see this these types of actions from other companies.
I have a bet down that the pause thing will be singled out for negative mention in reviews; I predict the word “Unresponsive” will be used a lot.

That doesn’t even begin to be accurate. Mike was working on a game engine but had no characters Alex had characters that he’d been drawing but no game for them. They were introduced by mutual friends. Reverge has a team of on staff members, most of them artists, I believe, that do the key frames. Then there’s a sizable number of sub-contracted artists that do the in between frames and clean up and all that good stuff. Heck, there’s a video that was posted on the front page about the process. Though, I’m fairly certain you were corrected for making the exact same bogus claim months ago in the Skullgirls general discussion thread. But if you want to continue purposely spreading misinformation around, knock yourself out.
That said I don’t get people that say they wish they would have had “normal” characters. Skullgirls is a fusion of Mike Z’s engine and Alex artwork. Mike didn’t just start a game an pick some artist up off the street. There would be no game if neither Mike nor Alex were involved.

Saying that you want Males in Skullgirls right now is like saying that you want SFII characters in SFIII. Those players demanding that kind of thing are basically shunning the art direction for their selfish needs. Not all of fighter games will have characters that a casual gamer/hardcore player can relate to. In often with new IPs, You have to explore the new franchise, and see if you like them. This menailty that SRK users are having with the Skullgirlls separating itself from other game is why you don’t see new IPs.
There’s a PS3 demo too, yo. (^.^) Unless something happened that nobody told me. :^P

I can’t lie, I am proud of these dudes sticking through to the end since way back when Mike Z said he was gonna make this game. I bet half the people here don’t even remember when this shit first started. In all honesty I will get the game just out of sheer respect and see where that takes me. I will probably never play it though because I hate all of you creepers. Here’s to hoping Mike Z never decides to make a pony game EVER, unless it’s about Unico.
Somebody else is already making a pony game so Mike Z would just be copycatting.
