I don’t care for any part of the game whatsoever, so I’m not buying. I wish it the best though, because they are going to have a shitty time getting enough sales
“Skullgirls FGC’s new shit hole” - Davis
That was the only part I felt needed to addressed, I’m not sure how Felicia is a normal fighter in general, but the cast she comes from are a very interesting group of things.
If you never played her game of origin though, I can kind of understand then, it was a big influence on Skullgirls.
Probably because KoF is great and UMvC3 is not, wouldn’t that be the logical thought process? Maybe people are praising the game because it’s GOOD?
Your argument is full of holes good lord. Mentioning Felicia and saying that the characters are too weird? Saying that people promoting a game they like is a bad thing?
The reason why people don’t come and promote UMvC3 might not even be because the game is bad, it might be because CAPCOM DOES THAT ENOUGH FOR ALL OF SRK COMBINED.
I wish…
Mike Z and the rest of Reverge have not reverted to Ctrl+V yet. I don’t see them copying things blatantly any time soon. Also, Panzer has a tank on his arm, not magnets. I’d imagine he’ll be blowing things up more than anything else.
I continued reading the thread just so I can see what has been posted and this is more or less what I wanted to say. The hell is wrong with these people? Does anyone actually think that Skullgirls tournament goers are going to show up at majors in Pony costumes and cosplay? We are ordinary folks like you who play Mahvel, KOF, and those games you guys wouldn’t even consider touching like BlazBlue, Guilty Gear or Arcana. Don’t give me that shit about the community or a thread getting in the way of prizes and good gameplay. I’ve heard people on Dustloop comment on why they don’t play Mahvel or SF and I never hear shit stereotypes about Black people(Mahvel), little kids(Smash) or old fogies(that SF nostalgia) and that is how it is supposed to be. Less stereotyping is good, we are all fighting game fans.
This thread is starting to remind me of the stupid shit people came up with to explain their apprehension towards old school games on GGPO. They were afraid of nerds like me pounding them at VSav and hurting their feelings or some shit. They say they didn’t want to play games with no community. Well… Skullgirls will have a community and you can harass them right back by beating the ever loving shit out of them with the first ever console game to do GGPO/Rollback netcode CORRECTLY. They’ll even have several times the amount of resources when it comes to learning the game thanks to the complete SRK Wiki and months worth of high level footage available before release. That footage was made using corrections by that very same community they like to lambaste too.
What more do they want? I’ll tell you what these people want. They want that community to disappear so that they can just pass on SG. Tough luck kiddies. That community is here to stay because most of those other people with these “complaints” will probably leave when the next big company waves a shiny new object in front of their face.
Note: I’m not commenting on the quality of any other games right now. Capcom can do them and that is totally cool. SFxT is not THAT bad. I still take the stance that we don’t need to mention Capcom in here despite the fact that someone will probably start calling SG fans pedos pretty soon. Take the high road, I say.
Shoosh you it’s idle speculation from someone who is not good enough at fighting games to have really inspired ideas for gameplay.
Most of the characters are “this and this with a dash of this, and also a unique twist!”. I was speculating on one of the this…s.
I honestly did not give a shit about the game when I first saw it. It did not appeal to me because of the art style which reminded me of a fighter I played on newgrounds a long time ago. Then as the years passed I kept seeing the new characters/builds of the game and it started to captivate my attention. Then after I read about the ggpo, infinite protection, gameplay mechanics all at a low price I tanked. It looks like a solid fighter which ill be getting day 1. I still don’t really like the art style and honestly I wish it had some male characters but fuck it! the game really looks like a lot of fun.

It’s one thing to support a game. Go ahead and advertise it. It’s a completely different thing to go into a tournament thread for another game and shove your game down other peoples’ throats.
Male characters will come later.
Bleh, they should have included at least one guy on the main roster. It doesn’t really bother me because the fan service is more a parody of what we’re used to seeing in fighting games (lol Double’s tits) but hearing that complaint over and over again is still rather irritating. Just call the game “Skullworld” and throw in Big Band or something.
I play blazblue and other anime games, I’ve been on dustloop since like 2005, and I am a huge anime nerd. I don’t care about whether people are furries or like ponies or have weird fetishes or are part of whatever odd subculture they are a part of, and I don’t really care if they talk about it, but obviously not everyone shares that attitude. If you want to grow your community, you don’t want to constantly advertise stuff that you KNOW makes many people uncomfortable or otherwise not want to associate with you.
Regardless of whether you think people should have that sort of attitude or not, it exists, and if you want to grow your community the last thing you want to do is give it a reputation that “people who play that game are weird” or whatever other ignorant assumptions keep certain communities from growing.
All I’m saying is that it’s cool if you like stuff, but there are places to talk about it besides SRK/dustloop and we fucking KNOW it’s not going to help anyone if the forums are full of offtopic shit that drives away potential players. If people come into the community and find it to be full of “people who like fighting games and are talking about fighting games” they are more likely to stay than if their first experience with the community is people spamming ponies or discussing the intricacies of loli porn, both of which have happened multiple times in the SRK general thread alone.
Regardless of how you feel about it, these ignorant/flaky people are the potential pot monsters that would boost the game’s tournament presence.
When a game addresses issues that you have with another, who are you to say that someone can’t mention it?
And that’s kinda the least part of my argument, the more important part was the fact that Felicia IS(was) a really weird character.
Back then we didn’t have catgirls flyin’ out of every goddamn anime orifice like we do now. That character was offbeat and made people uncomfortable.
Offbeat characters now have to be much different than offbeat characters then.
I’m not seeing anyone complaining about the roster being all female. The game I played before I started playing console fighters again was a cast of all females. It’s just that they’re weird as fuck or just ugly. There’s like one or two characters in the game that don’t make my eyes bleed. Even if they were male characters it would still be unappealing.
Uh, you said you wished the game had more normal characters, and you used as an example for comparison a catgirl nun. The hell are you wowing about?
Damn, so many people give this game sh*t for not having male characters or for being loli it’s shocking and disgraceful. I only play male characters in general because I can relate to their manliness and I’m definitely not into loli because frankly I find it distasteful BUT I can look past that because the game looks and sounds great, has a roster with diverse styles and takes the best parts of other loved fighting games and puts them into a game that’s budget priced.
You know. I could rant and rave about SG, who made it, how great, yada yada netcode holla.
But yo. Just at least give it a chance. It looks like it’s going to be a really good time.
Hi I am Momo and I don’t read
Well maybe it’s just me, but I don’t find a catgirl nun as strange as a cat girl that takes her body apart and bleeds all over the place. It’s just an opinion anyway so I don’t know why everyone got their panties in a knot over it anyway.
I see a lot of information on design decisions/implementations of systems being brought up for this game. Is there a place I can go to read up on everything dealing with the system/mechanics of the game? I saw a few articles on the main website when I checked it once. Is that where ALL the information is?
@Momo: I dunno, maybe it’s because Ms. Fortune is a much more interesting character than Felicia. :U
I concur.
