Why people should support Skullgirls (even if they don't quite like it..)

lol

…Well I’m not gonna argue with that.

has anyone does any research and is playing with just 1 character viable? Or is doing 3 the most beneficial?

It’s all speculation at this point and everyone thinks each size is better than the others for some reason or another. I plan on running 2 myself.

Day 1 tomorrow, we’ll find out if the 3 team sizes are viable in the coming months/years.

I ain’t gonna lie- I don’t like 3S but I bought 3SOE to support GGPO and Ponder.
I expect others, who enjoy the unofficial & free GGPO on PC to do the same and show their support and give something back, regardless of what they think about SG.
15$ for all the fun you had on GGPO playing ST VSAV and all the classics. Don’t be ungrateful bastards and do it!

I’ll play this game if someone buys this for me.
That’s supporting it, right?

I haven’t played the game, so don’t take me as an authority or anything, but it has to be the more characters the better. you get:
counter pick protection
red live healing
DHC
alpha counter
access to the nurse lady’s level 5
The damage boost would have to be like 1,000 percent of normal to make that work and it’s not. Even Mike Z beat around the bush by saying “you can make it work with parasol but…” on ultrachen.

In CvS2, you only got counter pick protection and 3 characters was still the only choice.

Theoretically, 3 would always be better, 2sifferent assists is nice, AND You get more life total, and in essence 2combo breakers

think of it as a fun option, not a Competitive one…

I just read the Mike Z interview on the front page and all I wann do is sing

“Hear ye Hear ye the savior has come He has come”

It seems to be going the route of CvS2, while bit more tamed. The fact most mechanics require an team of two or more leaves me thinking singles won’t do well. But atleast when two player do single the game changes to water down version of Xmen chilrdren of the atom (having rounds). Regardless of it being good, welcome it.

This is a team game? But there’s only 8 playable characters.

It’s like MVC2 without 42 fodder characters

And people need to remember that not every feature has to be tournament-viable to be worth having in the game. Yeah it’s supposed to be super-tournament-friendly and all that, but a bit of fun, interesting stuff, especially something like going 1-3, which makes you feel like a mensch, is always welcome.

Edit: 8 is pretty brutally low for a team game though, it hasn’t had the time to be developed the way MvC2 did, and you don’t even have the option of going low-tier or figuring out a weird special/gimmick team (well you do somewhat, if my math is right 336 teams before assists). The reasons are logical enough, but I really think its gonna be a barrier to getting people to ‘stick’ with the game.

it won’t be IMO. dlc characters are coming, plus marvel vs sf and marvel vs capcom had “small” rosters as well.
hopefully we get like 7 more characters when its all said and done.

It’s basically MvC2 top tiers the game.

For every like 5 characters they made in MvC3, they made one in SkullGirls.

There’s going to be plenty more characters on the way too, provided that it’s successful enough. Best case scenario is that we end up with 30+ more characters

Not to be a nattering nabob, but believe each DLC character when it’s available, not one minute earlier.

It’s not that there’s any reason to think Reverge is gonna be bad about it, but there are a lot of things involved (like how well the game does, and how well the first few DLC sell to name 2), and just about every company promises DLC these days, and actual delivery is… spotty (Marvel comes to mind here, barring ‘but that’s Capcom! arguments’).

Bonus content is really really easy to promise, but a million things can get in the way of delivery.

Can’t edit my phone, addendum.

The point is that the game needs to stand on its own, not the promise of dlc.

Seems like it will for folks that like the style, that should be the thing.

personally 8 is not too bad. Considering how MvC2 character either had little or alot of moves. Skullgirls really offer even in the primary function. (allowing custom assists is pretty much genius on skull girls development part)

normal attack with variation of each. 6 nutral, crouch, and air = 18 standar attack and times that by 8. You’ll have 144 attacks to work with in many ways due to the assists mechanics. Considering that these are the primary function and doesnt even tap to property or unique attacks each character have. Doesn’t seem low…in fact down right overwhelming.

Oh yeah, how did I forget GGPO on my list of reasons to support?

Weren’t the ratios tuned by Mike so that all sizes of teams would be viable (especially considering how much damage some characters can put out solo)?
