I guess it depends on what situation we’re talking about.
If were talking about mashing Ultra/dp while being comboed, I blame the preponderance of 1-frame links in the game. If the reward were something like a Dead Angle Attack in Guilty Gear where it would knock them back and do low damage, rather than an Ultra or dp I could see that. I don’t have a problem with mashing (hell, I do it) I just think the reward is far too great and that this game would have been a lot better had a lot of things been chain based or at least not as tightly linked instead.
it would be a better game without the large reversal windows and super awesome invincible reversals
less people would play it though so I guess that tells you something about the SF game people actually want to play. old people can bitch all day about slow walk speed and great reversals, new people are still playing SF4 over ST/3s/CvS2. the relationship between offense and defense in SF4 is pretty different from those other games. I’d rather play the old ones myself. so I do!
