there are still USF4 tournaments at US majors, they are just very low profile with little to no stream time.
I haven’t heard of the JP scene doing anything major either, but I haven’t exactly been looking. I know they still play it actively (since most of the Japanese FGC likes to congregate in arcades)

People still play 4 in major Japanese arcades. Online and otherwise.
Tournaments due to no community support or stream sponsor restrictions they might not be allowed to stream sf4.
It’s still being played in tournaments tho. No stream and “on the side”.
