So I need to use Amazon.com to send someone an e-card, but for life of me, it wont work… I’ve had no problems at all with any other web site, except Amazon. The only time there is a problem is when I actually need to use it. I don’t get it, it’s like someone’s hacked my computer and is blocking things I need to use. Has anyone got any suggestions or ideas on what the problem might be? I’ve tried different browsers, deleting cookies and loads of other random stuff, but it isn’t having it. I got this error from Firefox…
“Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”
I took the liberty of using your hotmail address (taken from your profile) to send you an amazon e-card. It worked just fine. I’m using IE7 by the way.
Eh? This makes no sense… It wont even load the card you sent me…
Did you try using IE7? If so, then what kind of error did you get?
Page cannot be displayed…
It might be a problem on your ISP’s end. Don’t know if it will help, but try flushing the dns’ cache. You can do it like this in windows (if you’re using another operating system, try to google flushdns for “your system here”):
Start menu -> run -> enter “cmd” and hit ok
Command prompt comes up -> enter “ipconfig /flushdns” without the double quotes
Then type in “exit” to close the prompt
What will this do exactly?
In a nutshell, when you enter a URL you are sending a request to the DNS server, which answers this request by giving you an ip address. The flushdns command is your way of telling the DNS to check for an updated ip address for your request rather than go with whatever was in the DNS’ cache.
