Also getting a high rank player to rage quit is the fatality of Capcom games. Victory can’t get better than that. Maybe I’m lucky but I rarely run into rage quitters
Though, I will say that I like the idea of “Awarding a win to the one that didn’t disconnect”. But for a D/C, I don’t think it’s a good idea to blame it on the disconnecter all the time, for reasons Yomipower already mentioned. Though, at least in Tekken, where the rank system is a bit more arbitrary than simply gaining a bunch of points, like SF4 is, I hate when I’m about to be promoted, and I get a d/c. I really hate that shit. Because then I have to win like 4 more in a row to get that rank up. And you know, when that shit happens, I’m going to run into 4 really good players in a row, and the fifth is going to be a “demotion risk” match… Fuck that shit.
But yeah, in regards to people d/c, I just laugh that shit off. For some reason, rank affects me in Tekken… Never bothered me in any other game unless I’m going for a trophy.
Chris G’s girlfriend talks smack to someone, not WM. WM thought it was about him and throws his joystick at Chris G. Chris blocked it and punched him in the face, breaking his glasses. WM demands Chris to pay for his glasses.
If the game itself uses w/l records for its matchmaking then I care about w/l records in that in theory a better records will supply me with better opposition. If matchmaking is random then w/l records can fuck right off.
I get annoyed more annoyed with developers regarding ragequits than I do with the people. I say this because if someone has quit on me once why would the game match us up again? That said I find early, outcome still undecided, type ragequits somewhat annoying because they’re a waste of my time.
Because people with shitty connections make the online experience worse for everyone they play. Also your suggestion for something “BETTER” is essentially punishing people with bad connections by denying them the ability to play. Not that I would be opposed to such a system. I also fail to believe that someone doesn’t realize when they’ve got a bad connection.
My general idea for ragequit hell would be to set a threshhold for a minimum number of matches after which the disconnect % would be checked and if it’s above 5% the player is consigned to ragequit hell. In ragequit hell they’re only ever matched up against other people with high disconnect %. You get out of ragequit hell once you’ve played enough matches to drop your disconnect % to 1%. Done and done.
All Marvel players should be arrested. If they haven’t done anything suspicious yet, they probably will eventually. >_> Chris G needs to shut his chick up though.
Capcom actually did something interesting with the iPhone version of SFxT. If a player RQs, then the AI takes over for that player and they get a loss. That way, the other player gets to keep playing and it doesn’t mess anything up really (unless the AI is better than the player.)
But I can’t figure out why no fighting game (at least not that I’ve played) have a connection benchmark test available. I’m not sure people KNOW they have a shitty connection most of the time.
Ignorance is not a good excuse to ruin other people’s games. FYI, ignorance of the law won’t work as a defense in legal court.
I’m pretty sure laggers know they cause lag. It’s really obvious because they can see and feel lag at work. One must have a mental handicap to not figure the problem is on their end after playing online a while.
If your internet is shit so that you drop out frequently, why should others be punished for your problem? The risk of getting that disconnect and lost of game should be on you because you wanted to play knowing your problem.
People with shit internet yet want to play online should accept the risks involved in choosing to do so. League of Legends is the #1 game in the world because they have good systems in place to prevent abuse and leavers.
Take a hint from the most successful game in the world regarding this issue.
How heartless, I still game vs some bros in spain and greece and their internet sucks and you expect a DC now and again. This doesnt mean they are rage quitting or should be punished cause the net infrastructure over there isnt as awesome as yours, it means they are just dudes like you trying to get their game on under shitty conditions.
Accept DCs as part of online experiance and move on, theres worst things to worry about.
I have no idea. It can’t be that hard. At this point I’m tired of Green, Yellow and Red bars lying to me.
I accept that ragequits are a part of the online experience and I understand that there’s other stuff to worry about. That said would it kill the developer to, at the very least, implement a system wherein I won’t get matched up against the same rager over and over again? I don’t care if that person is the best available connection if they’re just going to bail on me the second they start losing.
Why should some one worry about some one quitting mid match?
When as a developer you have to worry about game crashes, normals behaving properly, not floating in the air, making sure the system ports match, no extra input lag, make sure animations work, specials behaving correctly, making sure mechanics in the game works like they should, and repeat for each additional character.
That is even before cpu opponents for arcade mode.
