She made some catchy songs that a lot of people like. That is why she is famous. That is why musicians get famous.
Again, WTB her trolling everyone and going back to this. She clearly has enough talent to pull off not looking like a space alien playing crazy sounding shit.
She’s decent looking, has a great voice, is an amazing performer, and overall has really catchy good music. She hits above almost all other pop singers on all those points (except maybe in the looks department, she dresses way too creepy for me to find her attractive).
I think her looks and her performances are debatable… some people aren’t attracted to fake made-up blondes, or creepy performances in odd costumes. But it’s really hard to argue that she doesn’t have vocal talent… and her music IS really catchy. I can understand a lot of people being turned off by how… unusual she is though. Anyway that’s 2 cents from a GaGa fan.
Also fishjie I love your avatar!! Keri Hilson is one of my lesbian crushes (no homo)…
Funny I should see this thread after just reading this: http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=1676 on another forum… Strange.
I’m not though. People can make albums of quality on their home computers these days. And pouring money into music doesn’t make it better. Britney probably has more money behind her than Gaga and she still sucks. Take away all her crazy expensive clothes and videos and the music is still there. No one would give a shit how she dressed if her music sucked. MIA just came off salty as fuck for not making money and trying to shit on someone who is.
Damn this thread is 7 pages long. Haven’t read any of it but have you guys seen her live on the piano? That bitch can play. Her talent is undeniable.
Bet you won’t even know about this talent if she stuck singing and playing piano like the hundred others doing so in bars and cruise ships. Give her a break.
Who cares she that she is famous really? If you don’t like here don’t listen to her. That is what I do, and I doing just fine. But to answer the question. She is just the in thing, and most people are followers. As simple as that.
and everyone might of missed this post, hilarious
obviously, but those examples are kind of different. What I’m/MIA is saying and what you can’t really contest is that her music wouldn’t be the same without that record label financing. This isn’t the kind of stuff you can just do on an Ibook. Talk with any of the guys who do make music around here. It costs them fortunes in equipment. So I’m not implying that money = quality. What I am saying however is that it expands and limits what you can really do.The reason she only played this piano centric stuff when she was ‘stefani germanotta’ is because she couldn’t afford to produce things the way she can now. It’s not like this is a value judgment on her work, so there isn’t any need to take it that way. The rest of what MIA was saying was pretty salty, but on this one issue she had a point, even if she didn’t realize it.
It was a commercial for a lot of things.
Her talent is questionable. She could play, but now as Lady Gaga she slams on the keys like an elephant.
Really, why are you nutsacks so adamant about trying to defend something you like? You like it because you like it. It does not mean its good, it just means you like it. Take for example Disturbed, shit band but plenty of people like it. You can listen to their cover of land of confusion and it becomes blatantly apparent that the singer is in over his head. But people still like it. C’mon now, music is like porn: there’s different types for different people, and if it isn’t your type you don’t have to go looking at it. Maybe I should’ve just kept trolling bigzby, he seemed pretty adamant about defending shitty pop music.
Well while funny, the symbolism is so blatantly obvious once you look at it. I don’t listen to Lady Gaga or Beyonce or Rihanna but I just started listening to Janelle Monae and her whole theme for her albums is about Metropolis and androids.
So I mean you have to ask, why is everyone choosing these symbols to represent. I know naturally you’d say “Because it’s edgy” but people keep doing it so it’s not really about being edgy anymore. And it won’t be the last time an artist will use occult imagery in their work.
yeah, but you can’t just kind of extract ‘meaning’ out of the ether. Of course artists use ideas like this to express a theme or idea in their work, but this isn’t quite the same thing as simply namedropping things. It has to be incorporated in a substantive way. If I take any random song and start inserting gnostic terms into it, have I actually said anything important or enhanced the song in any real way?
No. But that wasn’t my point. I’m just wondering why are these symbols are so popular.
Her songs themselves get stuck in your head because you hear them EVERYWHERE. It’s just when you see what she actually looks like you get freaked out. She just looks kind of creepy to me. :wonder:
It’s that big Italian nose. I want to smack it with my oily penis.
She’s the unholy bastard child of Madonna and Aladdin Sane Bowie.
That’s why.

that song is awful.
I am going to bust out that tightrope dance at my next work meeting.
