Why is it called Happy birthday?

Been hearing it for since the orginal marvel 3 came out and never question it but why happy birthday ?

Because hitting 2 chars is like a present or something ? Don’t quite get it.
<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>yea like getting a present
<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>getting all 3 is a merry Christmas

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>It probably originally started from when the term was used to describe Abel’s super in SFIV. <div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7fZElVasl8

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I’m guessing people just saw 2 characters getting blown up for easy and just decided to carry it on into Marvel.

During my birthday a few months ago I got a present and when I opened it up it was two dead characters.

I believe Noel Brown was the first to call it a “Happy birthday.”

And yes, it’s because the opponent gave you a gift, so Happy Birthday!!

Back in at least MvC2 we talked about the free character you got when you made certain attacks (randomly getting a double snap or picking up a surprisingly called assist with a super or otherwise surprisingly killing someone). I think you’ll find both me and Matrix talking about how “wow, it’s my birthday?” for the free gift character that they’d given us. I feel like that’s something Isaac would have said too. But there’s thousands of hours of footage, and I for one am far too lazy to track that kinda stuff down.

I believe it originated during a match with PR Balrog and someone else, PR caught the assist of his opponent, and I think Noel Brown, said “happy bday” it was also PR’s bday at that time.
