while it’s not a perfect game (what is?) and have some gripes about it, it’s still pretty fun so i play it.
I like the game and I’m having fun with it. I don’t have to deal anymore with a lot of the things I didn’t like in SF4, such as ultras and, what I hated most, vortex. Now I don’t feel so helpless when I’m defending against certain characters like I did in SF4.
Jump ins don’t bother me too much, maybe cause I’m using characters with good AAs (Chun and Marduk) or maybe people just got too used to SF4, where you had AAs that covered jump ins from far away, up close, and crossups all with one button that didn’t even need to be timed right cause after the first frames of startup half the body was invincible.
Also, I noticed that while hitstun on jump-ins is very high and you can usually combo even if you hit them with a light attack at the top of their head, blockstun is much lower and you can usually backdash out or even punish jump-ins if they pushed the button too early.
Only thing I have a problem with are cross up tatsus, so hard to punish and so easy to get hit by :\
What I really think they screwed up is the timer, I don’t remember a single match where all four characters are down on life and it doesn’t end with a time over.
If a round ends with a KO, usually there’s at least one other character that has almost full health. If a round sees two players fighting on the same level, dealing each other some damage and managing their tags correctly, 99% of the time, that round ends with a time over or with a race to the lead in the last 20 seconds.
And this is just going to get worse when people will start tagging out more frequently.
This problem also makes legit comebacks almost impossible, if you’re taking a beating on both of your characters, unless this happens in the first 20 seconds of the match, you probably already lost…your only chance is to get in ASAP with a full combo, guess right on their wakeup and then either hope they don’t tag out and die with the other character at full health, or, if they do, you have to deal as much damage as you can, with no time to waste, to their second character who’s probably just going to run away cause there’s gonna be 20 seconds left, but if you manage to do that, you will now have a lead and win when the timer runs out.
if you’re planning on a slow comeback, poking them here and there, you’ll run out of time before it even starts to look as a comeback.
And this is sad, cause managing your characters’ health is a very interesting part of the game.
I really hope they do something about it, the only solution I can think of is adding more time and freezing time during super animations. The damage definitely doesn’t need to be increased, yesterday I lost to Nina in 2 combos, lol.
I also agree that the throwing game sucks too much…either give throws more range or make them slightly faster.
To be fair, I like about the game that it’s given us all so much entertainment. The people who genuinely enjoy it have a new game to play. The people who don’t have something to complain about. The people who haven’t bought it get to make smug remarks and posts like this one. Everybody wins.
