ironically my brother came home with one of those new ps2’s for gt4 tonight…im gonna go get tekken tomorrow or something…i’ve heard a lot of non sensical arguments in this thread about the topic though…oh well, time to hop on the t5 bandwagon.
How does liking PS2 make someone a fanboy. Liking a system just for graphics and gimicks is being a fanboy. In reality most people who choose Xbox over PS2 is just a casual gamer fanboy who’s easilly bought by gimicks and good graphics. Graphics dont make a good console, games do. Halo is fun for a while, but it’s nothing innovative and is* HIGHLY* overrated by Xbox fanboys and nerds. Ninja Gaiden was good, but DMC3 is way better. Fable aint got shit on ANY PS2 RPG. PS2 has better games for ever genre except FPSs, but I’d rather play those on PC.
I own both and have a XBL gamertag, but I havent touched it in about 2 or 3 months. Xbox is for fanboys who dont know anything about what a good video game is. I play SF games in arcade like they were meant to be played. I dont need to play online with EX scrubs who bitch about the cheapness of roll cancel. Only thing Xbox is good for is it’s harddrive and putting hella games on it. You know why? Because I’d rather look back on all the games that were good than play Halo2 with a bunch of nerds and little kids.

as lame and tired as it sounds, Most Japanese Companies balk at developing for an American console…the bias is there, whether we wanna acknowledge it or not…
personally, I follow the Japanese consoles, not out of any kind of loyalty to Sony, or any other Japanese console manufacturer, but rather, because most of the games I like are Japanese…and therefore, I go where my games are…
There are way more games on the PS2 that can’t be counted on fingers and toes that do NOT reside on any other platform. I’m gonna have to disagree with DM on this one. Plus, there’s the controller issue. Some games that are multi-platform just seem like they were MADE for the Dual Shock. And before anybody goes “get a converter,” I already have one and it’s not the same. Especially for games that don’t allow custom button mapping.
Sony does turn out crap games, but so does Microsoft (Drake of the 99 Dragons, anyone?), and is the lack of lighting in the PS2 version of T5 really that important to gameplay? I mean, the last thing I’d be thinking about when I’m fighting against somebody is whether or not the lighting’s perfect. PS2 doesn’t graphically beat the XBOX, but the quality of games made for it do.
of course, these could be the exceptions to the rule, but MS has already signed a number of japanese developers to exclusivity deals for the xbox2 
Yeah, the reason MS is recruiting these Japanese developers is because the Xbox marketshare is tiny in Japan. They want to rememdy this with the Xbox 2, and one way to get Japanese people to buy the new Xbox is to produce more Japanese-made games for it.
PS I hate Microsoft in general (especially Windows), but I must say I love my Xbox. They finally got something right, and I’m not too stubborn to admit it, even though their OS is buggy, insecure crap.
Do they have anyone that MATTERS? You know: SNK, Capcom, Namco, Hudson-Eighting, Dream Factory?
How bout cuz they dont wanna. Either that or the total hardware dominance that Sony enjoys right now with the ps2. Probably same reason they even bothered to do tekken advance at all simply because the market was completely dominated by nintendo. When MS gets a bigger piece of the pie at home and abroad then you might see Tekken show up on it. and for the record, All those other fighting games that are online should be reason enough to understand why frame intensive fighters suck online. I mean come on… its so totally not designed for online play from the get go.

simple answer: namco + ps2 contract = more money for both. people who want tekken at home buy a ps2 and eventually more ps2 games/accessories.
This post = TRUTH. PS2 has more quality titles in each genre IMO, so that and my GC are more than enough for me. Not dissing folks who like Xbox, but it just doesn’t do it for me.

Now I don’t know about the other games you listed, that’s between you and him. But he did in fact call out a lot of the games you listed, just pointing that out.
Think about that phrase “total hardware dominacne.” Yeah, Sony enjoys a great deal of dominance over consoles, but it isn’t total. And this is a good thing. I’m sure that even many Sony developers would agree that it is a good thing too, ironically enough.
You see, with Sony, we have a video game market that is competitive, innovative, and open. It’s anyone’s game as long they have the ball$ to to step up to Sony and out do them. They did this to Nintendo, but the two still exist in a friendly rivialry sort of relationship. Nintendo has the handheld market on lock, pretty much, and Sony rules the hoome consoles, but it isn’t a total domination scerenario on the part of either company.
But with Microsoft, they are out to rule all gaming if they can. It’s plainly obvious that the X-box has been loosing money in Asia. Yet, instead of sucking up their losses and focusing on the vastly more profitable American market, they throw more money at hungry and well known developers like Hironobu Sakaguchi.
I’m not going to say that X-box is a bad console, since it’s US market performance was so good for a new console with some big name conpetition. But, I really don’t think that the X-box is as good a system as it’s hyped up to be. Seriously, the X-box reminds me of the Dreamcast. It’s a system that had great hardware and a limited selection of games at start, but it also was easy to hack and had great multiplay abilities. … … We all know what happened to the DC
So why? is Microsoft trying to gain market in Asia, where it is doing so poorly, instead of beefing up their already good US market like most companies would do? I don’t know, but I’m willing to bet that they want market dominance. And I’m willing to bet further that they wont be as willing to “share” with other consoles.
