there’s soul calibur and stuff but is there some legal reason xbox doesnt get tekken? apparently 3d games have little to no lag over live as well? this seems like a no brainer to me…what’s the deal?
An Xbox fell on Namco’s dad and killed him.
… Yeah.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was announced two years down the road. That’s what happens most of the time .
As for online play that requires alot of programming on their behalf and they probably didn’t want to spend that much time in bringing the console port.
Virtually the whole series has been running on Sony’s hardware, so they’ve shown loyalty. And plus, the PSX/PS2 owners are where the money is.
I was shocked at Tekken Advance, though.
I remember people were asking about TTT being on DC back in the day. Shit was stupid.
Don’t hold your breath for any other future Tekken sequels going on non-Sony platforms, Namco is using Nvidia’s new graphics technology that is going to be a part of the PS3 architecture.
Tekken is quite exclusive to the PS2 alright. I’d much prefer it that way.
if it had online play it would make the game 100x better. look how much better sfae is for xbox. that’s the only reason i’d want tekken 5 for xbox, possible xbox live.
JF’s would suck on online play… for a game like Tekken which is very frame intensive, I don’t see it working.
Yeah it looks like it was a case of :
- Cram more stuff into the game
or - Code a new laggy online extension
Tough choice for namco on that one. They’ve never put stuff online so far, so they aint breaking tradition right now.
I guess it also depends on how popular xbox live is in japan, I wouldn’t know so could someone notify me? Also after seeing the torrents of the game, I don’t think they could have added live to it unless an xbox disc can take more than 4.2 gig.
It’s very shocking that SC2 isn’t on live, and that t5 isn’t even being announced for any online system, ps2 or xbl. I’m sure sony’s wallet has a hand in all this, but it’s a terrible situation for gamers, and i don’t see any excuse for it. Between MvC2, SC2, and now T5, we’ve learned that some people just do not understand how to market a video game.
^^^
Also Namco is still a traditional arcade company, and they really push for their arcade games to be successful. So online play for them isn’t really an option.
Tekken 5 arcade version = playstation 2
it’s playstation hardware
xbox blows that why
Cause ecksbox aint tight enough for Tekken.
If it did happen all the nerds would cry about nobody playing Halo anymore.
The only thing thats “very shocking” is that people think the future of online gaming is NOW and its not. Online fighters and laggy and stupid.
EWGF ONLINE? LMFAO
Namco is intelligent enough to keep its credibility by NOT releasing buggy online ports of really good games. Go play DoA, the puddle deep gameplay masks the flaws of real online fighters.
To me the comparison is very simple. Game + online play, even if it’s not perfect > Game - online play + devil within mode. The fact is that some people benefit from online play, whereas right now noone benefits.
How is namco ‘keeping’ credibility by keeping their game in a niche market where only certain people will be able to even see whats really in the game? If thats the way games are supposed to be IYO thats your opinion, i just strongly disagree.
I’d rather place well in an enviroment where people can compete at least somewhat fairly than to just win by default.
Fuck Tekken 5 . Where the hell is Final Tuned on Xbox?!
This is the end-all 100% answer. You can’t transfer items and costumes between the console and arcade because Namco really wants you to go out, buy a card, and pay the 50 or 75 cents to build that shit up.
Or, the Xbox falling on Namco’s dad sounds credible too.
fuck VF FT, give me t5 anyday
tekken online lol that cant be done surley you have friends to play or a tekken machine near by. that is a much better way.
Unless you yourself want to go through all that code and make it online taking stuff out the game to make it as basic as DOA that even five year olds can play and win at, no thanks.
leave the button bashing games for online with lag in them, and real fighters stay offline.
