its not that sean sucks its just that you guys who say that he sucks sucks you dont know how to use him and use his moves at the right time i may b a ken user but i get down with sean

Sean has:
A crappy jump
The worst normals of all the shotos
The worst mixups in the game
His dragon punch loses to throws
Lands crouching from his special moves, even ex, so he gets extra-hurt when messing up
No usable non-ex special moves
Poor ability to deal damage without ex attacks or supers
No ability to punish a whiffed, blocked, or parried attack without ex attacks or supers
Difficulty building meter for ex attacks and supers
Only Alex and maybe Twelve have a worse super choice
It’s interesting to see how people thought more highly of Sean and much less of Remy and Q three years ago. I have to admit, I was one of them, but I think we all agree now that Sean is the worst and Q is at least the third-worst and probably the fourth-worst.
Remy is much harder to play effectively, basically. I think that’s the reason people think higher of Sean.
People always think Sean is “underrated” because he plays similarly to the shotos who all are fairly competitive. The thing is, the shotos aren’t strong just because of a handful of their normals, which is the only thing Sean really inherits from them. There is no undiscovered potential in Sean, just some stupid tricks people may or may not be used to, that will only lead to like 30 damage anyway. Unfortunately some random scrub on srk with no tournament experience who only plays Sean as their second character will always claim that he is at least “low mid tier” and that if you played his Sean, you’d change your mind :lame:
Twelve’s SA1 is one of the best anti-air moves around. Watch some yamazaki vids, and you’ll notice every time someone jumps in on him while he’s on the ground, he just steps back and uses SA1 as they are landing. They fall right into the super, and it does pretty decent damage.
Twelve’s problems lie not in his super, but his extremely low health and inability to do good amounts of damage when he has no bar.
It’s cool, I play some Twelve. His SAII and SAIII are awful and his SAI really isn’t that great either. It doesn’t start up very fast, it doesn’t move very fast, it loses damage as it goes farther away, it only has upper-body invincibility, and it doesn’t do a whole lot of damage. Every other character has at least one better super, with the exception of Alex. Twelve has several problems, and while his super doesn’t top that list, it’s certainly on it.
You’re right, those drawbacks exist, but if used as I said in my last post, those disadvantages are nullified. Just slam them in the face with it when they jump in on you. If you time it right, it’s un-blockable, and they’re right at its minimum range, where it does max damage.
sean dosnt suck its just that you guys suck with him good with him he is almost a simple player like ken and ryu i went to a tournement useing only sean and won most of them sucked anyway but i kno i build my skill with him

I’m quite aware of the antiair trick for SAI. Apart from a rare crouching short xx jab whippy hands or a punishment opportunity, it’s just about the only time you’ll get to use it.
What tournament? I’ve beaten people by only using one button but that doesn’t make it a good strategy.
it was a tournament in the bay area california and i beatin people with out moving (i kno it sounds impossible) my point is that people should say that a character suck its just the fact that you guys cant us him
I have a feeling I’m going to get into a debate over semantics, but I’ve got nothing better to do right now than to reply to you.
What does suck mean to you? Tell me how someone should be using Sean. The only thing decent about him is his resemblance to a shoto. He has no decent way of dealing damage, and all his specials and supers suck. I’m not saying you can’t get a win from time to time, but hes among the worst characters in the game.
And yeah, unless goofing around with your friends on console or playing some wack gamecrazy event is what you call a tournament, I do find it pretty impossible you won a “tournament” by using an immobile Sean.
ok ok heres my sean thread… just like the guy said earlier if u use him like a shoto u will never win… the only shotoness that sean has is his dash in throws and his dash is seems faster… this is wats different about sean… his super jump is higher…i notice alot of his moves take off alot of stun… especially the axe kick… he has good mix ups… his close s.rh is one of his best normals it comes out fast fast like chuns s.rh and it can be canceled if needed… sean is a poke character… ive gotten more wins playing the hit and run game… he’s a shoto in training to dont expect the best normals… his supers of choice are like giving him an extra special move that he doesnt have lol… i like the hado super… i like have a c.mk super to punish… shoryuken super for airborne fighters…
sean is gimmick, he’s only good against people who haven’t seen one.
play rashly and unsafe, dash back and forth, throw in a couple whiff jab sean tackles, cr.strong XX SA2/3, throw, meaty anything XX jab roll, throw again.
that’s all you need. works maybe once or twice against good players, after that you probably won’t win again.
sean is like 12, in that the throw is very important. just throw ppl alot and play basic shoto throw mindgames once you have them down. more effective with meter obviously.
how do i explain this 2 you and video game terms for me suck means that you cant use a character now i will agree with you that his specials suck expect for 1 or 2 of them and none of his supers suck like his hadoken burst it may be weak but i see it like kens shinpu his shoryu cannon is kinda like kens shinryuken and his third one is different but you can still pull it off
and me winning at a tournament where most people suck there was still some decent ones that i can barely win with sean but still won im not sayin that i can go any where and beat people with sean most likely i cant but he is still a dam good character to use
