Like I said earlier, ask a woman what she wants in a game. I guarantee you that you won’t get a straight answer like, “more technical combos” or “wide variety of playstyles”…
It will be some vague ass shit about “fun” or “something she doesn’t have to spend too much time learning to be good at”…
Unless you ask an actual female hobbyist, whose answers will be more in line with what male hobbyists would say.
Which, again, is why this inclusiveness crap is a load of bullshit.
Most people will say the bold part.
You do know that we are a VERY small percentage of people that play games now, right? People who care about the intricacies of every game they play are rare. We only see each other because we come to a website dedicated to breaking down one specific type of game. It’s silly to think otherwise when you see that the global market for video games is worth $24 billion. So while you’re making generalizations about women and what they want in games, keep in mind that the vast majority of male players also feel the same way.
Then its still bullshit. This industry, for as much shit as I give it, has something for everyone, in just about every genre(and even genres that never existed before).
For a group of people to claim they are being “oppressed and ignored” when women are just about half the demographic is complete fucking bullshit and a waste of time to listen to, as the goalpost is always changing with them.
Stop falling for the bullshit, raz0r… I know you’re smarter than the game these shysters are trying to run.
It’s kinda pathetic when the best example of a female video game character is fucking Vivian James
BB_Hoody:
SpudlyFF8Fan. OH MAH GUARD she has heels in Smash Bros a game that has shit to do with the Metroid series. What a raging shameless fan service whore Samus has been turned into! She’s still covered up completely from the neck down, but DEM HEELS! I mean damn with those heels she makes the likes of Ivy from Soul Cal, Felicia from Darkstalkers and Mai Shuranui from Fatal Fury/KOF look tame. How can Nintendo turn her into such a shameless slut!? The nerve of them making Samus look more feminine. Kappa.
Weird nerd rage from two recently-made accounts about an incredibly innocuous topic that is basically undeniable. Not suspicious at all.
Regardless:
http://www.platypuscomix.net/interactive/justinbailey.html
And then Other M:
Now, you can argue that her getting more and more sexified by Nintendo by the game isn’t a BAD thing. But you certainly can’t say it isn’t happening.
But she’s not the best example…
Samus Aran, Lara Croft, Jade, Mitsuru Kirijo, Chun-li, Hibana, Bayonetta, Terra, any random KOF female, and dozens more that I can’t think of right now.
Stop it right now.
Not saying she is. Just saying Nintendo’s actively trying to make her more and more likely to get turned into a creepy action figure, which this dude denies is happening for some reason.

They have a point. Female protagonists are a small percentage of games and even in that group some of them are overtly sexual, just look at Bayonetta, old Tomb Raider, or Chainsaw Lollipop or whatever that game is called. And if we go away from video games and focus on the industry, they have the same problem tech does: a very lopsided representation of men and very few women. If I were a woman I’d be concerned about my interests being addressed, too. And it isn’t wrong to air that grievance, either. If they stayed quiet nothing would ever be done. Waiting on the sidelines for someone else to do something NEVER works.

You mean that gauging women’s interest off the games they are currently playing is assuming…well as it’s already been stated plz enlighten us to what games women like.
How about the SJWs and feminist desist with this vague and unclear point and specifically lay out what would make a good game for women. At every turn this question is conviniently dodged and we loop back to the same exhausted vortex of complaining and whinning. It seems certain people would rather spend more time complaining then doing something to actively address this…why are people like you so evasive of solutions. If women’s interest are not being well presented then by all means allow women to speak up and show through example what makes a good female friendly game.
It already seems games like beyond good and evil and the metroid series aren’t good enough examples so I’m genuinely interested in what women want out of a game…aside from what’s already been demonstrated by the popularity of social media games.

Samus Aran
Other M says hello
“you want to protect her”
Who?
Spoiler
Yes, that is a joke about how Beyond Good & Evil is going to see the light of day as likely as Banjo/Kazooie
Don’t you actively hate her? Or am I just thinking in the confines of Arena?
It might have been different back then but she’s gotten progressively more sexualized over her career in fightan. I mean, compare her old outfit to her current DLC ones.
Oh dear lord, and here I thought that Jade suffered from a case of the “Whodat Syndrome”
I would actually argue in favor of Ceres being a more impactful/positive female vidya character over Terra, but to each their own
I can still remember the cries of “NO MAI NO BUY,” you cannot seriously tell me it’s because she’s a developed character
Really, the only one I can wholeheartedly agree with is Bayonetta. The only problem with that being that she’s criticized for precisely what makes her a good female character.
Spoiler
In truth I should correct myself. When I said the only good example of a female character was Vivian James, I meant in recent memory.

I remember there was this comic that showcased all the great female characters that SJWs purposefully overlook…although I personally love when these people disqualify a female character based off how she’s dressed. If she’s sexy and shows skin she immediately is a bad example cause sexy females are sexist except when we argue that a women should be able to dress however they want with no body shaming.
Samus Aran spends 99.7% of her games in a badass suit of armor, but the moment she takes that shit off, and reveals a one piece body suit or a pair of shorts(because its probably HOT AS FUCK INSIDE THAT SUIT), it invalidates the fact that she completely obliterates entire planets single-handedly on a regular basis… :bluu:

I mean, we’ve been playing as buff as fuck chiseled dudes with their shirt off since day one but I guess that doesn’t count. And Staring at Snake and Raiden’s ass for how many game’s now? Also, Chris got dat sexualization with those brand new guns in RE5. How you say Chun’s DLC outfits are sexualized when they at most show legs. We’ve got Seth who’s literally naked yet not a peep about him. How do you sexualize a man without making it “gay”?
