Why does everyone use Ken and Ryu, am i missing something here, should i be using them, because 90% of my fights are against either one of these and even novices seem to use them well.
Now don’t get me wrong im not dumb anyone can see they are popular as characters, but do they really have a edge over other characters in the game, are they the best characters.
Who are the best characters in SSF4?
Who is best for a beginner to use?
I like M.Bison but then people say stuff like ‘his not top tier’, does that actually matter?
There are a variety of reasons they are so popular, the most common being:
Nostalgia. They were among the first characters and continue to generally be main characters in the story.
Ease of use. Many characters have been based on specifically their special move inputs so things like quarter circles are familiar to a lot of people. They also have the crazy good dragonpunch move that has super priority and super fast startup which makes it **seem **ideal to just spam out when you need **something **to connect.
Depth. Even though they are easy to learn, there are many advanced strategies you can do with them.
Balance. Ryu has a good balanced moveset that has tools to handle pretty much any playstyle. This makes him a better choice in many situations than characters that are weak in particular areas.
As far as asking which characters are best you’ll never get a straight answer as things are pretty balanced and it really comes down to which character fits your playstyle and you enjoy them as a character.
As far as which is best for beginners, it’s really dependant on how dedicated you are to learning them. C.Viper and Ibuki are among the two most execution heavy characters but I wouldn’t say beginners “can’t” use them, but they will have to work harder to become good with them than other characters.
“Tiers” can be good guidelines for which characters can hold their own, but take them with a grain of salt. There will always be bad players playing “high” tiers and very good players doing well with “low” tiers. Play with whoever is fun for you and you will have fun even when you lose.
Yeah, they’re really solid, original characters. They’re good to start on, and many people stay with them.
he wears white.
Ryu and Ken are arguably the best characters to try to learn fighting games with. So most people have at least some experience with them at a decent level.
coolest characters and the easiest to learn the special moves.
Ryu is probably the only character in the sf4 series that i would say is actually perfectly balanced. thats another reason hes popular. Ryu isnt too powerful, and hes not weak.
imagine how great this game would be if every character had the same amount of options Ryu has.
Pretty much. I don’t recall Ryu ever being bad in the series (Please, please, don’t mention MvC2)
It wouldn’t be good. Good options are a shotos strength.
IIRC Ryu was pretty bad in World Warrior, but nobody cares about that game.
In SF4, Ryu is too powerful.
He’s supposed to be jack of all trades master of none. Dudes a master of every trade there is, he doesn’t have a single weakness.
Every character should have a weakness. If they don’t have a weakness, they shouldn’t have any major strengths like Ryu does.
I’mma shut up now 'cause it sounds like I’m butthurt about him. I’m just sick of everyone online using Ryu, especially the people using him with U1 on release day of SSF4
