I’m fucking laughing my ass off right now. Hardly what I’d call irritable. And I’m not very tolerant of morons, so you’ll have to excuse me.
Because you’re so dense that you have yet to realize YOU’RE NOT CONTRIBUTING ANYTHING TO THIS THREAD. Just because you have something to say doesn’t mean you should say it. I’ve pointed this out multiple times and this is pretty much the last time I’ll say it: your opinion does not add anything to this topic.
Now get lost.
Hating a game SOLELY because of balance issues is a pretty pointless thing. If Capcom were to make a CvS2 upgrade with no changes other than removing all the other characters besides C/N/K-Sagat, A/N/K-Blanka, A-Sak, A-Bison, P/S/K-Cammy, C-Guile, C-Chun etc etc, would the game suddenly become the best thing since sliced Jesus? I mean shit, the balance would be impeccable. You would be able to use whoever you want!
And for the record, my favorite fighter is Street Fighter 1. You’ll NEVER see a more balanced fighter than that!
LOL
I actually understand where the guy’s coming from. A lot of SF games in the past have had a large mixture of characters winning tourneys despite tiers.
Balance is overrated now but when held up to the standards of the past…
I don’t know. But I agree that it’s pretty retarded when character selection is such a huge factor in whether you win or lose.
However, I don’t think this is totally true for CvS2. I just think that everyone is lazy and the Japanese winners use top tier so why not? I know that I’ve played Blanka for the sole fact that there’s no need to dedicate yourself with him to make him effective. So simple.
I see it as very possible that there are other characters just as great as the top tier except the right players aren’t exploring them.
HOWEVER, the reason it’s glaring in CvS2 is because the overall best characters also happen to be the easiest to win with.
No, it isn’t the same like other games. V-Gouki is clearly the best, imo, in A3(close argument for Dhally but I give it to Gouki since he’s more versatile and has more abusable bs). However, he’s NOT the easiest to win with on A3. You have to gain skills to win with him. This is not true for the likes of Cammy/Blanka/Sagat/Vega etc in CvS2. Now V-Sak is definately like that. Hella simple and hella top tier. But you have to have skills with the rest of the top tier in order to win or you stand a very good chance of losing to a low tier character too. No mediocre V-Ryu is gonna give me trouble with any of my mid-tier characters. In fact, the odds will be in my favor. You need to be in the top 5% of all Ryu players to compete well with my mid-tiers.
There’s a clear difference. There are enough characters to formulate entire teams of simple victories with CvS2. Ppl notice this and decide that they’d rather have the benefit of simpler victories than to put in the hours it takes to truly up their level. Then everyone runs to these characters and the tourneys turn ugly.
I don’t think CvS2 is really bad with the balance problem. It’s just unfortunate that the easiest characters are also the best. There are still some players that have their characters well able to compete with top tiers of their level. It’s just easier to use the top tiers. Nothing is wrong with that but it does make the tourney selections rather boring.
Don’t let that discourage you though. You really aren’t forced to use just them and you can still compete. It’s a matter of the effort you’d like to put in. Don’t forget, it can be an advantage to use a less than popular character as well:)
Apoc.
This is true, what Apoc is saying. I have considerable trouble when fighting vega, chun-li, or sakura, when i’m using Blanka or Sagat. Cammy is so good IMO that she can handle anything.

Honestly I think this game is preety fun, but I guess since I was more introduced to Marvels endless beasting combos and then I see cvs2 I guess it kinda bores me at times. I dunno about the character sprites as well. Like I know there a bigg improvment over the old characters, but I dunno. Overall it just seems less interesting to me. The only groove that seems to make me look twice really is a groove. But I dunno I might just serious give this game a shot. Like I dunno maybe try and switch around a bit and see if I can adapt to both qualities.
But I guess when you think about it, marvel isn’t really that great either. Sure you have infinites, resets all of that. But really anybody can really have a better chance of winning with certain assist. Thats the biggest advantage that marvel has to offer.
I guess I’ll have to try them both out, on a serious level, peace!
Wrong kid. Ive seen you throughout this thread quoting peoples posts out of context saying “Hurr hurr hay guyz u r AGREEING with me hurr hurr. plz like me because im raging against the machine by playing shitty teams with shitty grooves hurr hurr”
RUN TO THE ESCAPE POD. THE TIME TO LEAVE THE THREAD IS NOW!
LOL, you know what? It would be my dream to learn how to JD all of Sakura’s guard crush CC
Ricky Ortiz jd an entire one before.
Robert Sigley came close, he only did half but thats still amazing.
That’s what I see in people. People are lazy nowadays… If more people were like Makoto or Chikyuu… every fighting game would be exciting and fun.

Even SvC Chaos!
Ahahahah! ahahahaha. Man, I’m pretty funny
balance
“As I said, you want balance and fairness… play Chess or Poker or Scrabble.”
Shit, if you want balance all you have to do is have both players pick the same character(s). Wow, the game is now perfectly balanced. Maybe even more than chess cause both players play simultaneously.
Who would want to play a game without tiers.
What if you wanted to pick a shitty character to make someone look afool. You wouldn’t be able too!
Makes me wanna use S-Sim and stick with him.
Don’t even try it.
CvS2 IS THE BEST GAME EVAHHHH!!!

I mainly play A3 and 3S, but I can definately see the skills involved in other games such as MVC2 and CVS2. I think too many people are ignorant of other games because they are blinded by their own interest.
I have about 4-5 CDs of USA/Japanese CVS2. There is such a wide variety of characters. On numbers alone, I see a lot more characters than 3S and A3. Japan doesn’t cry about difficult matchups. They just play the game. The players that made the SBO1 / SBO2 tournament are using their BEST team. They had to win a tournament (qualifier) just to get to SBO! In 3S, I do good with Ken (top tier), but Oro (bottom tier) is my best character. It use to be that people would tell me that Ken was my best character, but I pratice Oro so much until he became my best character. In A3, I use Sodom (inspired by B5 GQ)! I play my best and hopefully win. That’s what counts.
Internet video is good for the fighting game community, but lately I’ve seen too many people use it to play for them instead of using videos as a tool. They’ll see something like Sagat’s d.fierce while not noticing minor details which only comes from experience. That’s why the Japanese community will always be strong. French community seems small, but I rarely hear them complain (at least in english ). USA scene is big and growing, but there always seem to be those few who talks big and cry imbalance which brings the scene down.
IMO If people can’t hang in CVS2 or any other game, they should STFU. thx.
Oro isn’t bottom tier, he’s mid to high-mid. Good ground game, combos (SA3), and a solid, repeatable unblockable (SA2).
