Why do you use T. Hawk?

I like how he forces you to rely on solid fundamentals without any bells or whistles.

I just like Hawk as a character. He’s a 9,000 ft tall Indian that can fly and says some stone cold deep nature shit before he face palms you. And he walks funny. Because we all play him I think we all have a good understanding of spacing, fundamental gameplay, footsies, etc…but I really just dont think he’s great. Best way I can put it, It’s a game and he’s fun…but I dont think anyone of us will be winning any tournaments anytime soon. :frowning:

But there is hope…they’ve buffed him once, we’re 3-4 tweaks away from being a legitimate threat.

I just want to say, this is my favorite response XD. And pretty much how I feel about T.Hawk.

I mostly play T. Hawk because I tried out the Gief, and Hakan, and pretty much… Gief wasn’t feeling right, and Hakan is really annoying when you have to keep up with oil application. Maybe I didn’t spend enough time learning when to oil up, but he also has pretty crappy options for getting in. Not without wasting an EX anyway.

Condor Dive is my favorite move for getting in (However unsafe it may be) because NOBODY I’ve played expects it, and I can delay it for a really long time, and they’ll start up an AA, so I’ll just Dive em. Also, I really enjoy using a wakeup U1 on an unsuspecting opponent. Of course, I only use this sparingly, seeing as how it can be easily punished, but so far, 75% of the time it lands.

I’ve always loved Grapple characters. I also play BlazBlue: CS2 religiously, and I mostly play Tager or Tsubaki. Grapple characters just have a nice feeling to them. And I really hate when people say they take a lot less skill. This isn’t true AT ALL. Yes, grapples own noobs pretty hard, but when you get to a higher level of play, grapple characters become harder to use. So what if they don’t have huge combos? They deal big damage, and can take big damage. Knowing how to use a grapple is a refined process, especially against a good projectile character. It’s difficult to get in on a quality player, but the reward is that much sweeter.

If anyone has already said this stuff, I apologize. I read the first few pages and decided to post!

Because I always have…dooming someone in vanilla ssf2t with a pink hawkalypse felt…right.

Because people are unreasonably afraid of SPD, and unlike Gief he has great ways to hurt them for it that don’t involve weird air resets. Gotta love them beefy normals. That I thought he’d have is salmon Hawk color from HDR. Damn you, Capcom.

I like his tic grabs, and his soulful way of speaking, his normals are cool just needs a buff or two

Reading all of these old posts made me LoL.

Im an asshole

Because someone told me to.

Looking to main THawk after the rebalance, because… to put it bluntly, I’m tired of working 3x as hard as most people to get my damage.
I understand, the grass isn’t exactly greener on the Hawk family lawn, but after maining Gen since the tail end of Vanilla, Id like to main someone
who can actually take a punch.

Ive tried dropping Gen before and always go back because I don’t get much help from people who play the character I’m learning.
This time I have a mini-encyclopedia of Hawk info from a friend and I haven’t even went into the lab yet. Its a good sign

Though you will still need to work at least twice as hard after rebalance to win. It lies in the nature of grappling characters. :stuck_out_tongue:

Twice is better than thrice : )

I’m cool with dealing with getting in and various issues. But losing bc my anti-air is actually a sweep atm (damn stances),
or losing via trades w/ higher stam chars like… JURI* !!! I’m no longer ok with.
They’re turning Gen into a combo video character and not much more. And to any Gen players seeing this post, more power to you, he’s just not for me anymore.

Personally, the idea of snatching someone up by the face is much more inviting these days.

(* - just using her as an example)

I use T. Hawk because I’m bad at performing combos against another player and on online multiplayer. But I’m having trouble using him because the top tier characters can easily beat him and it’s pissing me off. I’m not looking forward on version 2012 because I’m afraid to hear any news about T. Hawk getting nerfed (if he is getting nerfed).

He’s getting buffed.

He’s just about the only character I feel comfortable with in the Street Fighter 4 series. Back in vanilla I mained Vega and did poorly, I jumped between a lot of characters and in Super I planned on maining Hakan. After that didn’t work out I played a lot of random select until I got to THawk for the first time, and I really dug his vibe. I focused all my attention on him for a long period of time until I was confident enough to say he was my main, and he’s only gotten better since the start of Super. He went from a character I couldn’t care less about to someone I’ve really grown fond of. Sometimes it’s frustrating having a few terribad matchups and not being able to do what some other characters can, but to me that’s what subs are for.

I feel the exact same way. T.Hawk was truly T.Suck in Super, but he became stronger and stronger which makes it more fun to use him. I love the character so much that even if EVERY matchup was 9 - 1 in all of his opponents favors, I don’t think I’d drop him. I love him just that much o_O

How is he getting buffed?

THANK YOU!
