Why do you use T. Hawk?

Because mashing during blockstrings is a legitimate mix-up with T-Hawk. Grab or Dp? WHO KNOWS!!

Who are you? No one ? Oh, ok.

Begs the question, who are you? Socially inept disgruntled player who has misplaced aggressions so he takes it out on the population of a sub-forum dedicated to a competitively underwhelming fighter? Retarded troll? Oh, ok.

Try a soothing bath next time. You have to loosen up, bro. You’ll never rustle any one’s jimmies like that.

I am the only T.Hawk that plays out in Jersey; maybe 1 of 10 or so on the East Coast. All of the other T.Hawk players who put input on this thread are just part of the internet warriors who do nothing toward the community.
Hell I know he sucks, I’ve excepted it

I completely forgot I was on SRK; No ones reasoning is cannon, including my own.

I’m not entirely an internet warrior, I go to casuals and try to make it out to tourneys. It’s just tough due to me being 16 lol. The closest scene to me is about 45 mins away and I can’t drive, bit of a problem there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait, contributing to a topic that could strengthen comradery does nothing for the community?
Bitching about the said topic being “dumb” then complaining that there isn’t enough topics about content that is already covered in major sticky threads, thus making the forum a redundant clusterfuck, is furthering the community?
Do you want a topic to be dedicated to every single normal or something? Uses for DP, Commands throws, tick throws, Spires, thrust peak, dives, Frame/damage/stun data, videos, normals, match ups and FAQS are already covered. If new things are found out they have threads eagerly waiting for the info posted.

But it’s cool, continue taunting and belittling your fellow peers. We all know that’s the best way to contribute to a community.

You are completely missing my point; This sub-thread is riddled with garbage!!!

That is all I am not going to get into this any further than this. You know its serious talk when you have to edit your point to get it across =/

Relax Joe. Sometimes talking about why our favorite character is a bad ass is just…fun. And I don’t think “fun” necessarily has to achieve any lofty goal…it’s just…fun.

I think threads like this can be for the betterment of the community, and as for being “Internet Warriors,” well…we are on the Internet. And globally putting down every other poster in this thread (including me? gasp!) isn’t a good way to make friends. C’mon, just tell us why you use T. Hawk.

And calling someone a “nobody” because they may not be the best at a fighting game? Really? That hardly seems fair. I know plenty of people who have accomplished great things in their life and who’ve never played SF at all. Conversely, I’ve known total losers who are awesome at video games because they have no job and no car and play video games all day. The measure of a man isn’t how good he is at SF (or any video game). It is, afterall, just a game.

You don’t even know man, its man annoying. I log on here for the first time in months (last month) and its riddled with a lot of 'lol thawk" threads and not a lot of concrete information. I have also noticed the higher end hawk players never look at these as I should not.

Internet Warriors are terms for players who play the character but don’t support them by going to tournament. There are ways to support your character online too which people do not take advantage of.

Id type more to adress all points but don’t care too much to and im in class. . . .

Self defeating repetition compulsion. hah…

I’m far from an internet warrior, having played 99% of my games as Hawk at arcades, friend’s homes, tournaments, and online since release. I’ve never counter picked or switched characters.

You haven’t even addressed my point, or made a counter point. Just continue to throw out terms that mean nothing, point out I have edited my post and repeat your first post. Though you did make the point that if I play T Hawk. at an arcade and not on my PS triple, I get to shit on every one who post anything but frame data which helps the community out, some how.
God I hope you’re trolling my with these illogical fallacies.

Oh and just for you I am editing this and saving just so it has the edit label on it.

Er, well, to be on topic, I suppose I shall think of a few reasons…

I’ve always played grapplers. It started long ago, back when I was a wee kid, when I realized that 360’s just came horridly easy to me. Mind you, I hadn’t a lick of skill, but it was the first time that I felt like something “clicked”, in essence. Of course, I never did get my hands on Super Turbo back then, so I stuck around with Gief.

When Vanilla came out, I, of course, had Gief. I futzed around a bit, but I had no real reason to get good. Online was ass, and there was hardly a community around here at the time. There were also some odd events that kept me from getting too involved.

However, when Super came out, I decided to get into the weekly ranbats and actually try to do something with stuff. I was planning on going with Gief, but after incessive Hawk jokes about how terrible he is whilst I was hosting a release get-together, I thought I’d give him a whack. Heaven forbid, I thought he was fun. From that moment on, I picked him up.

At this time, though, I was scrubby as Hell. I wanted to get better, though. Quite a bit better. At this point, though, I knew T.Hawk was statistically inferior to Gief in many ways. I knew that my fundamentals were ass, though, and I figured that if I went with a character that had a strong set of normals and less options, I would be forced to strengthen my fundamentals much faster than if I had someone with many strong combo options. I think it has worked thus far.

As a second note, I love mind games. T.Hawk needs gimmicks. He doesn’t have a whole lot of stuff to work with in comparison. You can get pretty damn predictable. I like to get in people’s heads and trying to find unconventional ways to get around things. Sometimes people seem to take their mindset for granted, so it’s always fun to see them realize how they feel while playing really matters.

Not to mention the fact that when you play a grappler and you do anything, people seem to be fascinated much more.

Socals different than east coast tho =/ I see what you are trying to say, tho.

Oh and @allieswin theres no point having a text war about this due to the fact that its not even cannon anymore. . . .

Goes with that grappler hype…

You are right. T.Hawk to be honest with you is not that good. A lot of the hawak players who I “test” with don’t even play hawk anymore they switched to geif… Or in my case I learned basic bison. . .

In the state of the game right now. You have to know an alternate.

T.Hawk is not a godsgarden character. If you want to win you are almost forced to know/learn and alt. It is very unfortunate. I’m learning Bison as a counter pick for four matchups because some of hawks matchups are a$$$$

All the power with keeping one character. But knowing an alt is too important and it makes you ignorant to other play if you don’t.

T.Hawk in nature, however, is a counter pick character =/

Deleted and moved to OP

Yeah, you’re right. I’m hoping a few buffs and nerfs help him out, but I’m not holding my breath.

Bison is a good secondary. I know a Gief player that has Bison for his bad matchups. I’m working on learning Honda myself, when I’m not so busy with school that I can actually get it down alright. Sadly, I don’t have as much time to do stuff as I’d like. Most charge characters seem like good secondary choices, though, in my opinion.

Occasionally, though, I can get a good breakthrough with Hawk. I was playing a good Sim player around here, and usually he bodies me. Of course, I needed to find a way to get around the zoning and get him in the corner. With a bit of mind games and abusing invicibility, I got a pretty good mixup spire rushdown game going.

If you’re willing to outthink people, you’d be surprised what’ll happen, but I agree that it’s just silly not to have a secondary character.

Yup, a secondary seems like a really good idea. I seem to get bodied by any smart player with a projectile. So I’ve found that Guile seems to help me a bit in those matchups. My issue is that I’m not a great Guile player, especially since I just picked him up for the first serious time about a week ago. Still, if i can get some hope in those fireball fights, I’m all for it, i guess. Also, I love to zone, so that works out well.

Still, there’s love for the Hawk to be had.

I love hitting MT. It’s so fucking awesome. Splash, jab, MT. Watching people get pissed when you throw them is the best. I love the animation that comes with it too, it’s practically a taunt. “Yeah, I smashed your face in the ground. What you gonna do?” I haven’t been playing long (> 1yr), but since I first started I always wanted to play hawk. I wanted to learn SF2 hawk, but my game was just ass. He had the best super in that game and the ultra one is god like. Lol, I don’t know how many times I have had someone say “THAT’S FUCKING BULLSHIT” after full U1 and it kills them with close to 1/2 life. If they would just allow hawk’s lp buster to go through fireballs I would be in heaven (I wouldn’t mind a secondary grab though, gief gets one that bitch). He is a great character and a lot of fun. I wish they would put Hugo in too. That would make the game complete for grapplers.

If anyone knows this feel free to answer…
Why do grapplers not get air grabs? I don’t get why they can’t air grab or at least tech an air grab. THEY ARE GRAPPLERS LET THEM GRAPPLE!!!

Yeah guys, i mained charge character for a while, Honda Bison then guile. I wanted to main a grapler but i hate Geif and wasn’t skilled enough for Abel so I tried T Hawk. I fawkn love him. I love the priority on his grap. His only issue is ground game i think but i mostly jump to get in or fake out my opponent into an anti air then counter attack it. Ive won a lot of games agaisnt ibuki and other guys. I usually lose to blanka, rose, and ryu’s prolly cuz i get zoned out. but i just wanted to add my input, im new here

I love the dive. There’s nothing I love more than to catch something like a Shoto c.MK with a psychic instant Hawk Dive. However, I use him because I used him in HDR. Something made me pick him in HDR, even though I had never played him since I had SF2 for the GBA, and I couldn’t even remember what his moves looked like.

I like T hawk because his character design is awesome, his theme and sick and that nature stuff is cool too, and the mexican typhoon is the coolest move in SF
