I play fighting games because there fun. I can jump right into them, there’s not a whole lot of reading and shit, and i’m good at them. everyone loves to do things there good at!
i play for the enjoyment of it being mainly competitive. Sure most games are competitive but this is a genre that thrives on it. Online will never compare to the fun of seeing your opponent face to face. Add to the fact that I can play someone that is possibly better than me is good to know too. It encourages me to get better. I love the variety of characters too. You’re almost garanteed to find someone you like and it can be based on anything (persona, fighting style, etc.)
Seriously.
I’ve been playing fighting games since SF2 came out in arcades and I’ve not once had a problem with anyone I’ve ever played.
Soul Calibur series is just too beautiful, and my perfectionist nature pushed me to play as well as I could.
Because my parole officer says if I hurt someone with a baseball bat again, I’ll be gone for another 5-10 years.
I play for respect and pushing my skill in the game as far as it can go.
DITTO!!!..=)
You’ve taken the words right out of my mouth. Plus I grew up playing them too.
Same here. Street Fighter II was one of the first games that I really got into. I still remember how geeked I was when it was first released on SNES.
it’s like chess on crack.
I remember really loving the Kung Fu movies when I was real young, I always thought that was cool. Then SF2 came out.
GGPO life.
doing a really damaging combo is the only way i can reach orgasm
I take it you’ve never been laid, jacked off, sucked your mom’s tit, or all three.
I started playing SF2 when it came out. I was like 12 years old, and spent every day at the corner store where I worked blowing my minimum wage on SF2 and MK. I couldn’t even do a hadoken. rather than rotate 1/4 circle, i would just spin the joystick and mash fierce till a fireball came out. I always felt I was better at MK than SF, but after UMK3, the series went to shit. It’s hard to put a finger on why I was always obsessed with fighting games. Somehow I think it ties into my fascination with Asia. It may be hard to understand, but hand-to-hand combat is a more integral part of Japanese culture. There is no real equivalent in American society. Fighting games use this cultural aspect as a template, and this may explain their unrivalled popularity in their home country, versus a dwindling fan base in America. This is just one possible explanation though…I’d have to really collect my thoughts to elaborate further, and sitting here at work, that just isn’t possible…
