Why do you like or hate Smash?

Haha, Emblem “The Snake Eater” Lord. Hating on Snake since 2008.

I think you forgot tripping EmblemLord.

Likes: New characters, new playstyle, attention to surface detail and little touches, the sheer versatility of the game.

Dislikes: The omnipresent drama that the game creates, tripping, Falcon apparently eating nerfbat for no adequate reason, disorientation that the radically new physics brings.

These are so far the things I dislike about brawl:

  1. some characters got nerfed that didn’t need to be nerfed.
  2. Tripping. The worst fighting game feature ever.
  3. Throws suck for the most part.

EDIT: Lol, lamewadd beat me to it.

I’m sigging this.

My dislikes:

Nearly goddamn everything

My likes:

Final Destination Music. I could slay a dragon to that shit, son.

The shit I dislike is lamers online…fucking runaway n00bs, players that just stay off screen and wait, item whores, disconnecters, and cheap ass fags…

Shit like this makes me NOT want to play online anymore…and is slowly but surely pulling me away from this game…I’m about to go back to Melee cause this game is ASS…

On a side note…Snake, MK, and Ganon are GDLK…

The same could be said of any online fighter.

lol…tru…I wasn’t bein general with it…

Game jest seems slower to me…Brawl is to Melee as to Tekken 6 is to Tekken 5: DR…it’s just too sluggish for me…

sluggish?

It’s because I’m sort ov a speed player at heart…blame stuff like Marvel and speedrunning DOOM…I ain’t the type ov player that enjoys getting sniped due to a floater jump in Halo or waiting for moves to finish like 2 seconds later. I guess I’m too used to the brokeness that is Melee…

What I like:
freedom of movement. every fighter (well every GOOD fighter) except smash limits you to a small stage with corners. you get plenty of room to maneuver in ssb though, making spacing very important.

gimp kills. nothing is more satisfying than a comeback that you make happen in a matter of seconds. no other fighter comes close in this category!

Directional influence. I love how this works. mostly because I’m so good at it…>.>
I love living to really high percents and pissing people off when they think something should have killed me but I still lived.

what I dont like (for brawl anyways):
not enough guaranteed damage. sometimes I wish I had some when I end up hitting my opponent and then that is the end of my combo. I have found a few combos that have some decent guaranteed damage (about 30-40% combos) but they aren’t exactly easy to pull usually, and all it takes is correct DI and you can get out half way through the combos (so then the 4 hit combo is then a 2 hit combo)

ridiculous recoveries. hard to gimp people with insane recovery now…I still do it but its much harder than before.

tripping. dont need to explain.

unlocking shit. man fuck 1p mode I always thought that shit was boring as hell. I just want to play vs people damnit! at least that is over with now…

I hate duplicate final smashes, and the fact that Wolf is playable and Little Mac is not. Someone dropped the ball on that.

…seriously.

LANDMASTAZ! Wolf is a hundred times more fun to play as than Fox and Falco. I cannot deny that.

I wanted Little Mac as a playable character so bad. Even if he sucked, I was going to use him every time I booted up the game. I like how we got Ice Climbers and fucking R.O.B. as our retro reps, but Sakurai decided to make a BOXER an assist trophy. He could have at least given us King Hippo or Bald Bull. That would have been the shit.

Like: Funness.

Hate: Dem clones.

ehh…no, what I mean is that it is not really sluggish compared to melee…

Likes:

  1. The slower pace of the game. It allows for both offensive and defensive play now.
  2. The nerfing of some top tiers and the beefing of some low tiers.
  3. The music. One of the best soundtracks ever.
  4. The roster. Although it ain’t perfect, it is solid and offers a variety of different playstyles (zoning, rushdown, turtling, etc. are all present and viable).
  5. Group mode is still incredibly fun with 3 other people.

Dislikes:

  1. SSE. It’s boring and too long and drawn out for it’s own good. The generic Heartless ripoffs, evil Tron with Gill’s powers, and the Great Maze don’t help either.
  2. Tripping. Did we really need this?
  3. The CPU AI. It’s almost as bad as SC3’s.
  4. The online setup. Nintendo will never get this right.
  5. Final Smashes are not evenly balanced. Some are too good, while some suck.

???:

  1. Is Lucario worth using, or is he bound to be like Sonic in that he has to work too much for too little? I really like him, but for some reason, I am heavily drawn into using Lucas, Falco, Link, or Zelda instead.
  2. Will the Fire Emblem Lords make up about 70% of the With Anyone players?
  3. Does anyone still use Sheik, Peach, Fox, or Captain Falcon?

Overall, I really like Brawl, but it’s definitely not perfect.

i have to agree with deth-scyanyde…the difference in speed between melee and brawl really bothers me
as a serious melee player, i really do find the physics of brawl much more sluggish especially with the (almost) complete removal of dashdancing

the only upside to brawl imo is that the game isn’t as broken in terms of tiers as melee, however this will most definitely change as the meta-game evolves

imo melee >> brawl all in all
pros: more balanced characters thus far…graphics?
cons: sluggish/slow, uncombo-able throws, tripping wtf?!?!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=m8TEcAAEPCQ a reminder of what brawl will never be

what? you mean no more upb out of shield or CC bs from spamus or gay shine bs from falco?

somehow this vid makes me glad I chose to play brawl. (fyi you just so happened to pick the 2 chars I hate most from melee lol)

lol o well i guess it is just preference in the end…i personally like the fluid feel of melee…once you have a firm grasp of l-canceling/wavedashing/dashdancing melee really feels almost like a dance (dance fighting) on the screen, but i will admit getting consistent at using these techs takes practice/experience (then again so do combos in sf or parry, karathrows, in 3s or infinites in mvc2)…

imo with the pace of gameplay being slower and dashdancing almost unuseable brawl juss feels so much more rigid than melee in comparison

PS. i rather like falco shine combos…that is i like doing them on ppl not having them done to me lol (of course i’m nowhere near dashiz’s godtier level)…and as broken as they are there are countermeasures (stages etc.)

I prefer Wolf, R.O.B., and Ice Climbers over Little Mac.

Sheik and Captain Falcon have definitely been beaten to death with the nerf stick. Peach had definitely been nerfed but is still playable. Fox received a slight nerf, but I think he’s still end up in the upper levels of the tier list.
