I recently saw a MvC2 match with 2 players playing on the ground. Seeing this, I was confused as to why didn’t they sit in a chair with the sticks on their lab.
Can anybody explain to me why did they do this?
I imagine some players like to have something solid underneath their sticks, so it won’t slide or move when using the arcade stick.
Dragging a table everywhere is too bothersome. Personally cannot sit on the ground at all, it’s extremely uncomfortable on top of having to look up to the monitor.
I hear what you sayin but, wouldn’t placing it on your lap cover that issue?
Im a floor player…even with it being in your lap, you have to hold the weight of your stick w your legs, which can prove uncomfortable during a long set…plus the height of your stick will vary depending on the height of the chair your sitting in and depending on your playstyle, your stick might fall out of your lap during gameplay. …laying it on the floor provides more of a constant situation and more comfortable IMO
I use the Hori RAP VLX to play on my lap and it doesn’t bother me at all, but I got used to play like that from the get go.
if you’re used to american showcase cabinets, which seemed the popular choice for arcade marvel2, having the stick in your lap is pretty awkward. having it on the floor is awkward too, but at least the floor doesn’t move.
It mostly has to do with how people have their stuff set up at home and how they play there. Some folks tend to play videogames on the floor in general. It’s not just Americans too. I know some Japanese (such as my good buddy BAS) who do it as well.
It was a habit that started after arcades but before streams… most mvc2 players used mas sticks which were way too big and heavy to comfortably hold in your lab, so players just sat on the floor and didnt have to worry about looking silly for the viewers.
only girls play with their stick in their lap
