I used to use the lines for judging distance and spacing and the lack of distraction thing but I’ve gotten over that. I still like it for the bright, even lighting. I only ever pick stages with bright daytime lighting, I hate the nighttime stages.
Best stage pick I’ve ever seen was this Ibuki player who would pick matching stages and outfits. Red for volcano, dark green for jungle at night… Epic ninja shit right there.
I noticed it and I hate that stage. So boring and especially the music that goes with it.
I figured the reason why it is picked so much is because its less laggy compared to the other stages. In contrast, the lava stage has lag tendencies no matter what platform.
Most people due to less chances for fps issues, also clutter on the screen.
As a matter of fact, a friend of mine (who always chooses training stage on console) is thinking of getting pc version… for the sole reason that if you set stage quality to low the stage is pretty much not there!
Yeah, the training stage requires the least amount of resources to play on, so your chances of the gameplay being 100% smooth are at their highest when playing on training stage.
I really wish you can turn off the winner pick stage rule in AE. Training stage have no clutter, clean, no distraction, no bg animation means less lag. I hate it when the winner keeps picking random when clearly both of us are having problems. Fucking stupid.
I like the stage because I can easily focus on the fight and not the BG.
Can’t tell you how many times I get distracted by that fat kid at the overpass…
I try to avoid the training stage. I think you can determine another person’s skill better in a stage without geometry to help them figuring out spacing. (IE training stage is a crutch). When I get control it’s put to random.
If that’s the real reason then fair enough, but it’s also to the detriment of the other players, who may be sick of seeing the stage over and over and over again.
I say if the other stages are that hard on your framerate and the training stage is the only one that gives you smooth fps, then upgrade your PC! SSFIV AE doesn’t require a beefy top spec’ed PC to run well. The PC’s these guys are using must be SUPER ancient if all the other stages are causing slowdown on their machine.
I didn’t buy a fairly decent gaming PC and this game, to suffer from looking at the most boring stage in Street Fighter history. I, as well and several other SF players want to gaze upon those marvelous background graphics, and players with crappy PCs/crappy internet are ruining our experience! :lame:
This option isn’t stressed enough. There is an option to turn all stages to a standard dark blueish level that is easier on the framerate. So If they had framerate issues… :shy:
Training Stage, imo, has one of the best stage themes in SSF4. Plus, less lag, and it’s less distracting compared to other stages. Mostly because of the music, though.
Plus in Training Stage, it’s much easier to determine my** footsies** range because of how many square blocks I’m away from my opponent. For example, Dudley’s f.HP takes almost 2 square blocks in training stage. It really helps improve your footsies game, which you then can take to other stages so you won’t rely on it. It’s good practice.
