Lazyjosh, you’re missing my point. Top Melee players saying they don’t like Brawl is irrelevant. That’s like top players in 3S not liking SF4, or top players in MvC2 saying they don’t like MvC3 (and vice versa). They are two different games that are simply part of the same series, and by that token they have different players of all levels playing each of them.

In Brawl’s case, some people do like the slower, more mental-based gameplay compared to the fast, reaction-based gameplay of Melee. I know, shocking.

And if you’re seriously saying than any random person can go to a Brawl tournament and do well you’re severely underestimating just how much one’s understanding of the game affects one’s ability to do well in said game. This not only applies to Brawl, but to practically every video game in existence (and not just fighters). Let me tell you that, just like any other tournament game, noobs will get bodied. Hard.

I dint say any random person can win a tournament. And I also top players don’t like brawl as much as melee. You really have to ask top players your self. And my friend Sean forward who plays smash in tournaments, and wins most of the time, sure he’s not as good as Ken, and mewking. Many smash players play both games because brawl is new.

Brawl is a down graded ver of melee. And prove to me brawl has more tactics then melee

Brawl is such noob friendly game, I’ve beaten Sean forward using diddy kong, and he’s a top player in smash. I can’t even touch him melee

no, i was trying to give a example of how basic brawl is, much like sf2. Melee is a lot more like ST with a lot more to learn, and has more tactics.

Marvel has always been a touch of death game. During it’s time MvC2 was the only game that allowed for full life payouts from near instant overheads. Characters like Mags or Sent could kill your point character, guard break your incoming 2nd, and kill them too. One of the reasons MvC3 turned out the way it did was because players voiced their opinion of it, with fanatiq’s article on what made MvC2 so good apparently reaching Niitsuma’s team in Capcom Japan.

It is the only game in existence, with the exception of X-men vs. Street fighter, that has full life pay outs for almost instant overheads. Typically the rewards for 50/50 mix-ups are very small for the overhead but the low is the standard combo. Because of marvels combo engine, an overhead nets the same reward as a low. An overhead is just like a jump-in attack in Street Fighter 4 but it is fewer frames than Sagats F. Fierce punch overhead. Meaning any time someone is within range the damage potential is highly alarming. For spectators its like watching a high stakes no limit Texas Hold em poker match.

Mvc2 has a stress associated with it. A lot of people identify this as the hype associated with the game. This stress is the fact that one mistake can cost you an entire game. But this is the heart of competitive MvC2. With the pervasive infinites and various one touch kills, a moment of relaxation can cause you an incontrovertible death. Leaving one watching the screen unable to affect the outcome for 30 seconds straight as all life depletes on all 3 characters. Too many times have I witnessed one player get anxious and arbitrarily dash in only to get hit by an assist. The follow up is a combo complete with resets to kill the character. As the next character comes in, he is guard broken before he even touches the ground, and comboed/reset to death. The 3rd character is done the same as the 2nd character but if perhaps the guard break isnt performed correctly, he/she will have a serious uphill battle trying to fight a 2 vs. 1 battle. In most cases the match is over after the first 2 characters die. Very rarely, a person will make a one-character comeback but this is usually due to the leisure of the opponent. Unlike almost every other fighting game in existence today, many mistakes in MVC2 are inexpiable which highly contributes to the stress. Even though you have 3 characters, inescapable guard breaks make one combo spill over to the next character as well. Leading to 300% combos.
