I mean, it’s not that unbalanced and it’s pretty slow, maybe Nightmare could be overpowered but Siegfried is almost ok though i mained him since the first Soul Calibur.

people hate on characters because they can… however… fried ad nm are the closest thing to shotos. they are easy to play and easy to wreck face with and do huge damage.
freid also has a lot of sc2 nm in him now. aka “hey you stepped wrong, time to die!”
Agree. Siegfried and Nightmare are like the Ryu and Ken of Soul Calibur. Every fighting game needs to have them in some form.
IDK if they NEED it. Vf got along without it for the longest time until Jean. Jean and his double decker damage sandwiches.

Yeah, I’d say Seig is too slow to get a lot of mashing wins. NM can manage it, however. Well, at least at the lower skill level – a good bit of his moveset is relatively unsafe unless at a good distance.
Anyhow, I’m a NM main, and while I skipped 3 and 4, I’m back for 5. I agree that in fighting game lore, Seig and NM are like Ryu and Ken, but I think that’s where the similarities end. First of all, it’s not a rivalry – it’s good badass versus evil badass in a epic tale of epicness. I’d equate NM more to Dictator, ultimately. In fact, I remember playing ST as a kid and using Dictator because he hurt people easily, and he could fly around the screen like an asshole. Now, he’s a weakling, but still looks like a badass (but that’s another discussion entirely). I play power characters and grappplers as a specialty, and NM and Asty fit my bill. I can’t help that they’re fairly easy and too manly for many mortals to comprehend.
Point is, putting Ken and NM in the same sentence and comparing the two is like comparing the Backstreet Boys to Black Sabbath. Keep it skraight, kids.
itz not that i hate seigfried just that he is not that broken like nightmare consider he came out first before him
- People are starting to hate “Long hair, Giant Sword” in general
- Siegfried and NM (and Maxi) are characters where if you don’t have matchup experience and know what to punish and step, you will likely just get beaten badly. This is especially true at a beginner or casual level of play, when people don’t know the string and don’t recognize stance transitions. You get exposed and you do not know why.
This my personal experience against these characters more than anything though
