Why do people hate keep away teams?

Because its fun anticipating the other guy’s moves and they don’t like that  Besides, I rush with arthur so I guess they really have no excuse.

Says who? I personally love playing keepaway. I like watching people try to fight their way in only to completely fail.

At the end of the day, if you don’t like keepaway, play Gulity Gear, where the game punishes you for not rushing down by draining your meters.

But they die in that one hit.

if mvc2 iceman pissed you off, the problem was you, not the game. assists taking so much damage is really dumb but I guess newer players who just want to dash and mash all day love it.

The fuck? Post makes no sense you needa talk to eddie lee…

I smell scrub, did someone just take a shower in cold icy water?

People don’t like zoning/keepaway because some shits feel entitled to be able to press buttons and feel mashing buttons in your face is the only way to properly play a fighting game.

So I guess I better make a good post since my last 2 where obviously bad. Runaway/zone is a viable strategy if done right, in mvc3 its harder to zone because of shit like disrupter and phx but if done right its way amazing. Task/haggar/dorm do it master it because this team covers your weakness pretty well ( wolvie/mags/shulk ).

This game has built in limitations to restrict keepaway from being an entirely viable tactic. The ceiling, only being able to do three specials in the air. Hell, I think the game is actually shorter in height then it was it MvC2.

I mean in reality MvC2 Storm was the only one who could run away and have it being a glaring annoyance rather then a strength of a character. You can’t exactly combat against an opponent who literally remove themselves from the playing field all together.

I have been trying to create a keep away team since day one and it’s just not working out. Hell, I tried to create a cl0ckwork-esque team based on lockdown and that didn’t out very well either. When some characters can zone better than the ones who were clearly created to do that, well you tend to say ‘fuck it’ after a certain point.

Ah well~

Because they’re shit. Keepaway in marvel 3 is stupidly difficult to do right and even then it’s not as effective as decent rushdown.

One thing I want to clarify, that I should have asked earlier.

By Keepaway, isn’t that meant, you “keep your opponents away” like Cable in MvC2, whereas Storm is a “runaway” since she runs away from you?

I don’t think there’s anything necessarily wrong with keep away teams, I just hate fighting them. It’s very boring for me. Sometimes I lose to them, sometimes I don’t, but either way I just don’t enjoy the match. But there’s nothing wrong with playing keepaway, since imo it is a viable strategy.

I guess I look at the two to sort of co-exist.

If you keep away well enough you can run away even better?

:looney:

because people dont get to run up to you and do the combo they’ve practiced for 6 hours in training mode.
Its barely annoying, just requires thinking, but at times the slightest bit of lag means your eating beams and projectiles that you guarded against or were trying to super jump over.

I hate the 3 move special limit wtf and how low the cieling is…

I mean look at the fucking stupidity of the youtube comments when Dios-x made a keepaway team…

I only read the top rated comments, and the fact that they needed to be stated is sad. Especially considering how much weaker keepaway is in this game.As a person who plays Chris Redfield oriented keepaway teams, I find it sad that people can’t get around it. I can just feel the gaps in my zoning and when my opponents can’t, I know they just suck. Newer players and scrubs always bitch about keepaway teams because they can’t around it.Plain and simple.

Tell that to Strider and Spiral teams, lol. You probably just suck…no offense.

It’s really this. The fact that someone’s beef was with ICEMAN kinda says it all. I’ve seen Aruthr hated on because he thinks they take no skill. To some people skill is only measured by whether you can do a combo. Forget whatever mindgames or set up you use to get it, just the combo itself is skill. The thing that makes it worse is how much lower the bar for execution is compared to MvC2. So the one thing you like is combos, which are now easier to do…and people still hate on keepaway… No hope for the future. I’m waiting to see if any of the distance fighters get any kind of buff. I wanna troll with Arthur…

Why would Iceman pissed me off? I like and use iceman too. It’s the keep-away players in MVC2 that pissed me off. The last time I played MVC2 was probably in 02, and I know I was above average at it at the time. It’s not you or others who are gonna tell me otherwise.

So, you have a much harder time to win a match in MVC3 because the assists aren’t as effective as they were in MVC2. Maybe it’s time that you learn to adjust your playing style, not the game.

I encountered countless players using Strider, and most of the time, I never really had a problem beating them. You probably just suck even harder than me…no offense
