Why did they change Guile's voice in SSF2?

I never understood what Capcom was thinking. Guile sounded fine but then they gave him the incredibly fruity, nasally voice in SSF2 and ST. Fortunately they had the good sense to give him his old voice in HDR but I always wondered how that change came about.

Just a guess…

They rerecorded all the sound effects when making the jump from CPS to CPS II.

And it was cheaper to pay Big Bird to do the announcer’s voice and Guile’s voice than to pay for another voice actor for Guile.

Never thought of that but you are probably right.

SF2s flavor is completely ruined when Balrog talks like that for his TAPs.

Oooooraahhhh,oooooorahhhh,ewarhhhhhhhdoes TAPFIHVE!

I’ve heard that it’s supposed to be the announcer calling out the number of the TAP, not Boxer.

i know how you feel :frowning:

Americaaaa

CPS1 Guile

CPS2 Guile

Meh, besides Ryu and a few others the voices in that game were embarrassing I’m just shocked they didn’t give you the option to replace them with voice clips from voices actors with TALENT.

I know it kept the retro feel, just saying option would be really neat-o!!!

That’s what I always assumed.
