Why aren't you playing SkullGirls?

Hopefully. But I wished the game came out of the gates in the patched state instead. There’s a lot of other games on the market right now and coming out soon so I cannot blame them either. It’s hard to really play everything when you want to focus on about one or two games primarily and then play a few others secondary.

i really hope that the pacth helps to improves the skullgirls experience, because i really like what the game has to offer, but for now, i dont really like how it plays at all, and that its the case with other people that i know on my fighting game community
imo mike make a big mistake when he made the change on how the infinite prevention system worked from how what was panned and how it was released, that single change made the game more less attractive for many, myself included

still, i encourage you to give the patch a shot. i don’t think it would have been possible for them to predict the kind of stuff the patch addresses for an out of the gates release, but it is a huge improvement in how the game operates, and more then anything, helps cement what unique concepts and ideas it can bring to the genre, which the original version did an okay job at, but got bogged down by the long combos.

the patch makes it play more like skullgirls should play, if that makes any sense

it actually does and excellent job in making to the strategy and mind games of the game more diverse and layered, since mixups become much more necessary early on as opposed to long TODs

Instead of wasting time making shitty ass threads bitching about why people aren’t playing Skullgirls, we should be trying to include Skullgirls in our local scenes and build up a community for it by (GOD FORBID) actually playing the damn game and showing people how awesome we think it is. It would surely be a far better use of our time than this.Think positively, not negatively.

Because I don’t have the time to really get into it due to work, my poor time management skills, other awesome games I’m playing like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, waiting for the patch to drop, etc…

So far I’ve only cleared the tutorials and Arcade mode for each character.

Maybe when the patch comes out I’ll start playing it a little more :wink:

I already spent money on two kof games that I can’t play not including gay ass kof 98 um so I am not spending anymore on a game about boxes fighting each other.

I’m just waiting for the patch to drop. I was Having a ton of fun but then when that patch got announced I figure I’ll take a break, and be reintroduced to Double like it was the first time I played her.

not really, outside some rare reset here and there the game puts heavy emphasis on long character dependant combos (something that i don’t actually mind) that are unnecessary complicated due the ips (i really dislike the implementation, not the idea per se), add that the game is slow, has not so much characters that can fulfill what the players want on character play styles/ character design, and that no matter how much mike talked that he wanted to make a game that allowed combo creativity instead of forcing the players to expend a lot of time on training room (something that i don’t find as a bad thing) the game ended exactly the same as the others that he criticized if not worse, you need to expend a lot of time on training to learn what works and what not, long “bnbs”, little combo “creativity” outside setups for resets, that lead to the same long “bnbs”, etc, etc
also in the current form of the ips, even when the combos arent technically a loop, they still feel and seem loops in general, just that they have one or two normals/specials changed at the beginning :confused:

not to mention that the other games do the same, just because the games have TOD’s it means that the layers of strategy and mind games are absent, in fact, i belive that the existence of those combos, lead to a more carefully approach for the players, since the risk of getting hit, its higher

The main reasons I’ve seen people turned away from Skullgirls are the art style, the fact that it’s all girl characters, the abrasively long combos, the small roster, and the current difficulty finding online opponents.

I love SG but even I don’t like the combos as they currently stand. Thankfully they’ll be shorter after the patch.
Hopefully the patch will also sort out the finding opponents issues with the fixes to the netcode and matchmaking.

Im not trying to make anyone drink the koolaid , like alot of you i payed for it and i dugg pain wheel and Valentine, Its more of a expose on the inner thought of the srk community and a all girl fight game… Im not getting the usual lame answers that its anime or for pedos , but more that streams and majors have not givin it a worthy shot , so you have not bothered to waste your time, but might go back after the patch to see how things fly!!!

I like the game, looks great and has a nice feel to it but it’s just not me. I don’t even get very hype when I watch it either…But still. Enjoy what you enjoy, that’s the only way to make it fun! Personally, i’d rather play some AE, Mahvel or Blazblue since those are games I enjoy a lot. Real question is why does nobody play Blazblue?

Just got an xbox 360 this week and trying to catch up with all the other fighters and shmups that I have been missing out on due to me owning the Wii.

im not saying that its bad; i actually say that i don’t mind it, i like that a game rewards you to invest time on it, actually.

yes im talking about the current state of the game, on the post that you quoted im specifically talking about it to, and how, imo, mike made a mistake on experimenting with the ips changing it (not to mention about how he talked how sg would change the problems with current fighting games and then falling on the same problems).

the incoming patch would revert the way how the ips works to a previous version, the one that mike promoted when the game was on developing, the current way that the game is played with long combos with resets that lead to the same long combos only helped to make many people who where genuinely interested on playing the game, less attracted to it, for whatever reason, add that many feel that investing so much time in learning a game that they wouldnt probably have many chances to play against other people wasn’t worthy
this patch can help to attract more players, i really hope for that, but the damage is already done.
