I think thats kind of a misnomer… The most powerful facet of filias dp assist is that it is an easy confirm into full combo… Like psyblade.
Corridor is more just a straight up gtfo assist since it knocks so far away.
If filia assist or parasoul assist knocked away instead of down, then i would think that they were more corridor like… But with how they work they are best compared to psyblade imho. If for no other reason than convertibility and the fact that updo doesmt reach anywhere near as high as corridor.
And what is the end result? She is left unhappy with nothing left but the realization of what she has allowed herself to become. It’s called a morality play. It’s setup to demonstrate that James Baldwin quote: “People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply; by the lives they lead.”
Parasoul does most of her fighting for herself. If you see her as overly dependent on men to do her fighting for her, that says more about your view of woman than the character. You wouldn’t say that about Captain Commando in MvC2 who is always getting assistance from his team. But, that’s beside the point, she is a capable warrior and leader of a nation. I can’t really think of anything they could add to make her a more empowered character.
Also, she wears more clothes than Sakura so +1 to Lab Zero.
Peacock is a child, so doesn’t fit as cleanly into a gender discussion, but again she becomes a strong, independent, warrior after her trials instead of becoming an “other m” creature.
Valentine was already discussed, but to pile on, in the context of her team she makes much more sense.
For the 2nd time on SRK this month, I have a joke to say, but in fear of it sparking unneeded conflict and debate, I’ll stop myself.
But I must’ve missed that josh comment about parasoul. The fuck is wrong with him for saying that? A woman who leads a country, is the commander of an entire army, AND trains her own soldiers (hence her comment “I’ve trained the best.”), is weak and depends on others fighting for her? Go to that anita whatsherface bitch’s thread on the GD with that shit.
People forget that goal was never to mimic MVC2, but to build on the positives of the game and try to change things might have been a problem. A lot of the things that make it different are there just because Mike Z thought changing it would make for a better game. And some of the stuff, like tridash characters were planned for future updates.
because when it came out, skullgirls was literally worse than mvc2 or 3. thats saying a lot because mvc3 is really bad. the combo system was (is?) literally worse than having infinites. the movement is slow. it has similar concepts but feels nothing like mvc2 or 3. i dont know if the game has gotten any better because i havent touched it or watched it since a couple weeks after it came out.
its nice that the game has gotten support, mostly it seems from fans of the game but not fighting game players proper. but if its going to ever be played again, not only will it need revisions (which i assume its getting with all this crowd funding stuff), but the game needs prime stream time at majors and actual player support because everyone who initially played the game, such as myself, already made up their mind. everyone i knew who played the game quit playing it long ago. i literally havent seen it irl since a month after it came out. my requirements for giving the game another chance are the same as everyone elses; the people i knew that were playing when the game came out, are they playing now? do they think its fun? if so then ill give it a chance. until i see someone actually play it itll stay dead to me and im sure everyone else will do the same.
Please explain. I’m sure that offends many including myself. An incredibly large portion of the fan base plays at least 2 or 3 other fighters that vary from person to person.
Also if you’re suggesting that only casuals care about SkullGirls, when was the last time that a casual helped contribute over $800k to a game they are indifferent to?
Im not trying to troll you. But i dont see how nothing reaching as high as corridor means that something can then be compared to corridor. At least not THAT facet of corridor… In example, its height. However, updo can easily be compared to psyblade cause it hits about the same amount of screen and converts to otg combo on hit.
Now i could see where you were going if you were comparing it to some other facet of corridor, such as its gtfo properties… But height isnt a property that i would make as a distinction… When compared to corridor.
Also, though this is neither here nor there, there IS a move that reaches as high as corridor, in sg. It isnt invincible, it doesnt knock down, it doesnt have a ground hitbox that covers half the screen… But it DOES reach as high as corridor:
Hp Item drop assist hits painwheel at the very top of the screen in painwheel mirrors.
Though yes of course one would be hard pressed to compare item drop to corridor in any other respect.
It would be even more laughable if we knew for sure Cygnus has said something along the lines of “these attempts at bringing in the FGC into the esports scene is ridiculous.”
My answer is based on personal opinion. I wouldnt be ok with a small cast if the purchase price was 75 cents or 65$. This discussion hasnt been very productive sadly.
Tough tits. Characters ain’t cheap. Cost for making one in Skullgirls is $250,000 per character, total cost for the game (not counting work done before they found a publisher) was $1.7 million.
And we should give a damn about that because _______________?
If you try to sell me a cheapskate pair of jeans with terrible workmanship using a “Tough tits. Making jeans ain’t cheap” do you expect me to pity you? Not saying that Skullgirls is a terrible game but why should I care more about the effort that was put into it than the end product?
Tough shit to MikeZ, you mean. If he doesn’t create an appealing package with a fun, sizable cast, then he has nobody else to blame for any lost sales than himself. Personally, I bought the game because I wanted to try it out and lo and behold it was decent, but not anything revolutionary. I might not have played MvC2, but outside of borrowing some mechanics from it, I don’t see how it is appealing in the slightest. There is no hype, a fairly small community, a lackluster tournament scene and no money or established rivalries. Why the fuck would the Marvel scene give two shits about it?
Sort some shit out, grow the scene for the game and then it’ll boom and potentially draw in some Marvel crowd, though I doubt it.
No problem for me to share my opinion. If it wasn’t an option to have more than 8 characters, might have been a good approach to have at least a few male characters from the release. Can’t be mad that its unappealing to the masses as it is.
