As the title says, I would like to know what makes “Meshball” ball tops the most popular. Is it because they look better than any other manufactured ball top? Is it because they are easier to grip than all of the other ball tops?
I need to purchase a top, but I would like to know why the mesh variations are more expensive than bubbletops, which, to me, look better from screenshots.
Because nothing says “I pimp hos in a velvet suit while rolling in a plush lined Cadillac when I’m not playing Street Fighter” better than a meshtop.
Purely aesthetic, offer no difference in performance.
Until late '08 when Per from Akihabarashop made a big custom order from Sanwa, meshtops didn’t exist.* Since then they have been made regularly, but in small quantities, so they cost more. People like them because they look cool and different from traditional balltops. There is no difference in feel, and they weigh the same as standard Sanwa LB-35s.
Because they look sexy. Yep. That’s it 
Can’t remember who did it, but someone in the “check out my arcade stick” thread sanded a black meshball, getting rid of the glossy coat. Damn sexy like that too. Was it the guy who did the Korean stick?
Basically, pattern makes it look better than a plain ball, to some people.
I just ordered one because I like the carbon fiber-like look them compared to the normal types out there. I didn’t really like the bubble ball top types in the first place.
Aside from being made in small quantities, I think it’s just preference. I kinda wished that they made mesh type buttons to go along with the ball tops but I guess buttons take way more of a pounding than the ball tops.
Because the carbon fiber look stands out more than default. Also, because it’s $ick.
Its weird on my meshball underside I can feel the texture at some spots.

The white mesh is probably the worst buy you could make out of the whole bunch, IMHO.
Those are the old ones.
That pink one looks $exy as hell but the white and hai are still OG for me.
The old Pink is more red than pink.

Only the Arcana Heart 2 stick could get me to but a ball handle in that color!

The red is one of the better colors in my opinion. Really shows off the mesh well.
Light blue, pink, violet, and black are pretty good, too.
White is fairly useless for showing off the mesh. Stick to regular solid white ball tops…
I actually LOVE the white mesh tops. The white is more vibrant than the normal white. Also , to me. Less is more.
