DLC, Niitsuma’s Twitter, Wishlist… all got me thinking for a while now.

Niitsuma stated we could sent him DLC wishes for Capcom characters (since Marvel… is well mostly Marvel’s decision)

Internet petitions be damned, but we had the official Darkstalkers 4 thread on SRK as well.
If we do nothing, we’ll get nothing… we are SRK dammit, a cornerstone of the community.

Where am I going here?

If the mods are ok with it. I would like to make an SRK “official DLC request” thread.
Where people are able to state their 3 most wanted Capcom and 3 most wanted Marvel characters, no more (we don’t want Santa lists here) and no less.

Let it run 2/3 weeks, I’ll wrap up the results and post them in the 1st post.
When that’s done, make Capcom aware of this thread by linking to Niitsuma’s Twitter, Seth Killian and anyone else deemed neccesary.

I’m fine with it as long as you are careful not to let people vote twice, and as long as Preppy is cool with it (this is his territory now).

Preppy is down with it, which leaves me to rule making etc.
I’m planning to keep track of all posts through Excel to eliminate double votes, after that I can easily sort and count character totals.

I’m going to setup some rules for voting and post them here for you guys to review (I can overlook things as well).
After that the thread can be launced later this week.
I’m planning to let voting run until the end of january, so I can tally and posts the result and then the spreading can start.

Welcome to the OFFICIAL SRK MvC3 DLC Request Petition!

This idea came after reading so many people’s post about who they wanted to see for DLC characters in MvC3.
Ofc I have characters I want to see too. I figured that complaining about the lack Capcom villians wouldn’t result in anything, so I decided it is time for action, otherwise no one will get what he or she wants.

The result will be offered to Niitsuma (through his Twitter), Seth Killian and however is relevant in the process of DLC for MvC3.

In this thread you can vote for your top 3 Capcom characters AND top 3 Marvel characters who you want to see for MvC3 DLC (6 character in total).

IMPORTANT! READ THE RULES OTHERWISE YOUR VOTE COULD BECOME VOID!!!

• VOTING ENDS AT FEBRUARY 1st MIDNIGHT
  Any votes post after that timestamp will be void

• YOU MAY ONLY BRING OUT YOUR VOTE ONCE (multiple voting ballets will result in elimination of your vote)

• YOU MUST VOTE FOR 3 CAPCOM CHARACTERS AND 3 MARVEL CHARACTERS
  Any other combination will be viod (i.e. 4 Capcom characters and 2 Marvel characters)

Would you want/allow any brief ideas of how requested characters would play? I don’t know if Niitsuma is looking for info of this kind or if you would even want it potentially cluttering the thread, but as long as it’s brief and only about characters being requested in the post, it may be OK. Either way, if you want it to only be the names of the requests and nothing else I would explicitly point that out.

If it’s brief, fine.
I don’t want the thread to get cluttered too much, BUT it works a bit more as a buildup than just “I want character Y” period.

You have a fair point BUT remember Resident Evil 5’s DLC? That DLC came a year after launch and they listened to the players they wanted Spencer Estate and a Josh & Jill scenario and they got it.

With all due respect that is a terrible idea. Capcom obviously will not take instructions on how to make the game. It’ll fall on deaf ears and it’ll clutter the thread.

Possibly, but it’s equally likely DLC won’t be arriving for a year. Besides, as long as the thread is kept tidy and Capcom is encouraging it, it can’t hurt.

The RE5 “DLC”, was actually part of the main game, but was taken out (granted, in an unfinished state) because Capcom couldn’t add cutscenes at certain point. Simply put, the motion capture was too expensive, so they even though to present all the cutscenes comic book style, but decided against it. Sure, they eventually finished the DLC and added some cutscenes, but I’m not sure if they would do this without having some work done already.

Doesn’t mean that I’m against your petition though. In fact, I’ll gladly take part.

I dunno tbh… top 3 is like the medal winners in the olympics, so I went with that.
It’ll also show some diverse picks.

I tend to agree, that’s why I asked. I don’t think it’s necessarily hopeless as far as Capcom listening (mostly hopeless, but not completely) but my main concern was that this forum has it’s fair share of droning goons who will fuck it all up if you give them any freedom. I mostly just suggested it because it could be fun =D

Good points Diek, but I think I’ll put in my vote a day or 2 before the deadline, if I see that there’s a character I want that has a lot of votes, I can feel confident that that character may get a chance, so I can try with another character…
Sounds silly I know but it’s kind of hard to decide on the 3 I want from Capcom.

Oh and a silly thought for people that’ll post; why not consider having at least 1 Darkstalkers characters in your list?
I have a feeling that we might get a Darkstalkers collection on PSN and XBL in 2011 or 2012, and if Capcom notice this much interest in Darkstalkers from fans it may increase their interest in releasing the series.
Just a silly thought, and I don’t mean to force it on anyone.

One more thing; if we wanna let Niitsuma, Sven or S-Kill know about this then I suggest they be informed about it via twitter or some such, anyone without a twitter account can just make one real quikc and let them know about it.

Diek, you may want to compile a list of factors that have been confirmed as reasons why characters can’t be put in the game (Nemesis/Tyrant being to gory, etc) so that people can not waste their votes or invite garbage posts telling them they’re wasting their votes.
