Auctually, according to the FF/AOF timeline, Ryo was there first. He fought in the first tournament held by Geese and defeated him years before Terry did in the original Fatal Fury.

But as far as characters go, Iā€™d say Kā€™. Heā€™s a perfect representation of where SNK wanted to go with the KOF series(not to mention a popular design), and unfortunately KOF is the central series that everyone associates SNK with while Samsho and the older series (Fatal Fury included) take a backseat for it. Alot of the people I know who like Terry never even heard of Fatal Fury.

Iori for me, as he has (well, hadā€¦) one of the most interesting designs for a fighting game character.

Internationally though, I know itā€™s Terry Bogard. Iā€™ve heard that in South America, Terry Bogard is more well known than Mario.

Terry Bogard, definitely. This isnā€™t even a question. Terry is the face of SNK fighting games, and heā€™s the freaking VOICE of SNK fighting games, too.

Ryo is more infamous because of how much he looks like ryu and the shoto-isms.

However heā€™s also my favorite SNK character.

Lateley I have been running Terry/Ryo/Haohmaru in CVS2. 3 Hard slashes from Haohmaru=HAPPY!

i think its actually athena. but since the thread specifically states fighting games, then its terry. admit it, Fatal Fury is what made SNK during the 90s fighting boom. kyo was somehow just shoved down our throats beginning kof95 and alot just gladly ate it up.

Ash? What, did you hear of SNK in the last 5 years only? Ryo? WTF is an Art of Fighting? People remember Fatal Fury more than any other of Street Fighterā€™s major competitors.

There are many other well known characters like Geese and Kyo but Terry is the face everyone knows. If someone who knows anything about fighting games sees even just his baseball cap they know itā€™s an SNK game.
