Seth Killian and James Chen. They’re well spoken and they have pretty extensive technical/matchup knowledge. Another bonus is that they’re the only two commentators I can think of who don’t pick fights with people in stream chat, which is irritating and unprofessional. If this scene is ever going to leave the basement, behavior like that and repetitive usage of the same tired catchphrases (real talk! on blast!) should be left behind.
“Amir jumps over… Pyro hits forward fierce… connects… Yun’s forward fierce hit right there because it hits both ways… like a bisexual prostitute…”
Rock would be godlike, but in his absence I vote for Seth Killian and Seb. I would also give a blanket anti-vote to anyone from the East Coast scene. I don’t need to hear about people being on blast every single round.
Evo commentary needs 3 things:
Clear, concise commentary
Clean and clear language
Colorful personalities who can make jokes
As much as I loved Rock’s commentary because it was raunchy, colorful, and totally hilarious, I think the scene has grown into a position where the years biggest event should strive to be as professional as possible.
I want to see all those plus Yipes and Chris Hu commentate TOGETHER.
Have them all tag team. Looking at Keits, Ski, and S-kill, they brought 110% for us viewers at home, and they need a well deserved rest from time to time. You could tell they were worn down in that weekend, but it didn’t show in their commentating at all though.
Gotta give a shout out to MAGUS also. He brings KNOWLEDGE + LOLZ. Too awesome imo. Especially for the lolz.
