Who kills Yama, and Vega?

just as a request, can you please not make comments like that anymore?

you always act like your too good for childish flame wars anyways. you seem like you care about the fighting game community(seeing how you update your site and what not) so imma ask you to stop resorting to calling people random names along with your retort to whatever they said. it would help in avoiding a lot of irritation for the readers.

i know i’ve made some off-topic posts as well so i’m gonna try to keep it to a minimum.

anyways.

this thread is a who can beat vega/yama thread(though we’re getting a little off track with kyo). so here’s what i think

1)yes you can DP through kyo’s strings. i’ve seen people DP through strings with the tinyiest holes. DPed through c.short, c.short strings from sagat…etc anything…so i don’t think it’s that much harder to DP through the holes in kyo’s rekkas strings.
2)this is a VEGA and yama matchup thread, since they dont’ have strings breaks like DPs(unless you count super/vega’s charge flip or RC moves) i can imagine kyo’s strings being more effective on them.

dp/rc’ing through strings are pretty safe. At the point where they may be a hole (either by mistake of the opponent or it wasn’t a safe block string), just try to dp/rc. If you’re still in block stun, you’ll stay in block stun, if you’re out of block stun, your dp/rc move will come out and eat your opponent.

You’d just have to becareful if your opponent catches on, and just wait for you to try and punish. Then at least you’er not stuck blocking forever.

ya you don’t do it all the time, or obviously you’ll get baited, but it helps for a quick momentum change and big damage

Against Vega, I def agree that trying to uppercut through his block strings is a good idea, ESPECIALLY since Vega’s ability to punish without meter (and charge) is extremely limited. The other great part about doing this to Vega is that you create a knockdown, which I think is the best thing you can do to Vega.

The other thing that you should try to do against Vega is bait an RC Roll. If they are stupid, they will constantly spam fierce RC Roll. The ways to beat it are:

A) jump back, then super
B) jump up, super from behind
C) roll, super from behind
D) do RC/super of your own to counter him

Obviously, jumping is the one simple solution, which also beats other spammed RC’s such as Gief RGB, Honda’s Slaps, etc.

The last thing that’s annoying is Vega’s zoning with his pokes, mainly c. strong. I’m sure most of you guys know this already, but c. strong is jumpable, meaning that he can’t defend himself properly if someone jumps forward at the same time he does his c. strong. Depending on the jump arc and the time of the jump, I think it’s even possible to combo him in recovery. But that’s mainly theoretical uselessness.

What is NOT theory is the ability to gain momentum and start pressuring Vega after he commits to a poke. It’s funny how I basically use the same means of getting in against Vega as well as Guile. Once Vega commits to a poke such as c. strong, I will jump in with a high priority move and start my close up shit. Against Guile, I do the EXACT same thing but instead of a poke, I wait until he commits to a Sonic Boom. These are what I like to call “committers”. They “commit” to something that opens them up. That’s why good Guile/Vega players won’t really leave themselves open in this way, but a LOT of other players will, which gives you a chance to get in.

Anyway, that’s about it for now. Lastly, just remember that another simple way to get in against Vega is whoring high priority jumpins that he can’t beat, then start your close up game.

I use a team of r2 ryu, ken and sagat(although I don’t like using him), I use ken against yama/vega but its not an easy win, is yama’s qcfx2 p super blockable in the air?

Nope

Something that I’ve just recently been doing against Vega with good success is switching sides with him before he gets up. After knocking him down and making sure he doesn’t safe fall, getting to his other side by rolling before he starts getting up takes away all of his special and super wakeup options, giving you a free shot at him without the fear of a clearing reversal flip kick, RC’d RCF or super.

The danger here is that if you switch sides with Vega too late, he can just mash on punch (or punch throw) and wind up RCFing you on the other side.

Only way to beat Vega is to pick a guy who is prettier than him…enter Benimaru.

But seriously, for those who have seen the Kihna vids…there’s this one player who does pretty well against Vega with Ryu, a shoto of all characters…I’ve only seen the vid once or twice, and the only thing I can take from it, is how well he stays on top of Vega after knock downs. And also how he does a good job of cornering Vega with constant jabs, and then forward hop kick, etc.

Other than that, patience is all you can have. Vega is all pokes, RC roll on your wakeup is so not fair.
