Who is the GREATEST FIGHTING GAME PLAYER of ALL-TIME?

Angry Black Harrison!!!

Then there’s Fedor Emelianenko. Who will beat the snot out of people if he loses in fighting game. So people are afraid to win against him, so they let him win.

and last but not least, Mike Chaos and the Dark Prince. For they strike fear into people’s heart by their crazy trashtalk.

i kid i kid.

It was Masa, not Miu.

Also, Mint up there? lawlz

i was surprized to see him but its kinda cool

I don’t know about the all-time greatest, since there are so many different fighting games and so many different types of players. But I will say that my FAVORITE player of all time is Alex Valle. His offense-based style is every bit as captivating as any Daigo comeback YouTube video, and during the days of Alpha, there was nobody better. He’s one of the few players I’d be terrified to compete against, simply because of the psychological pressure he lays on his opponents.

And, of course, Daigo himself, the one-time arch rival of Alex. He’s responsible for so many great moments in SF history, and not all of them involve something as paltry as parrying every hit of Chun Li’s SAII.

Best overall fighting game player of all time is a 3way tie between wong, daigo, n valle.

Gotta second Viscant.

None of those other guys have black vests.

…seriously.

Wow you mentioned Moe of UMK3 fame. I used to play with that fool at Friars and the local comic shop around here, both now closed.

yeah i forgot about Floe, he was beasting

also how come Amir is up there and no Pyrolee

While I do like the idea of this thread, there are just too many names on that list that are game specific. I mean, just look at Bas. He’s good, but CvS2 is his true claim to fame. Then you got guys like Sanford, Justin, Valle and Choi that are good at every game they touch. I would definitely re-group it if I had my way with the thread.

But yeah, I’m just gonna be biased and go with Daigo. The man defies 50/50 and makes risk/reward situations look like nothing.

valle, buk and daigo.

wasn’t his main game Alpha 3 before that though?
i thought he was big for innovating V-Gouki stuff, like didnt he invent the demon flip into otg fierce grab VC?
which i imagine was sometime after that first alpha 3 national japan had, maybe someone can correct me timeline-wise

I was hoping this thread wouldn’t turn to this…

This thread isn’t to list top players! There are a whole bunch of threads like that. This thread is to list the BEST player EVER; not who has potential, not who is the best at a certain game, not who you’re favorite player is, but the best EVER. I know I forgot some names, but if you guys read the thread, I said I didn’t put them in, because the list would be way too big. Please, this thread has a lot of potential in it, a lot more potential than wish lists or “what is your favorite game”.

Yeah, Choi was the best in SFA3 for a few years before it stopped getting played in tournaments. I just go by the latest results, although Choi could easily be considered as the best in the nation.

I’m not as familiar with some other scenes, so thanks for helping out. I didn’t mean to say that Daigo was the best at Guilty Gear at one point, but he was definitely a top player. I was in a rush, since I had to leave for work.

Again, I just threw a list up there. They might not be the absolute best, but they are both really talented, and it wouldn’t take long for them to learn a game and beast in it… that’s a sign of greatness.

16 years is more than enough time to determine who the best ever is. Do you think we should wait 20 more years? no offense, but if a sports player whose played for that long usually has their career examined, then why not fighting games.

I only wanted to name a few players for each game. Amir and Pyro are on the same level in 3s, but Pyro only plays one game, while Amir is very good in multiple games with good talent backing the games.

Yeah, this is a hard task, but with effort, it is doable. This hasn’t been done before; what is there to lose?

I hope I don’t have to redo the first post, took me a few hours just to make that post.

No he’s not.

2A, 6C is some top tier shit yo

Hey great job on compiling all of that information. Sanford started with Tekken? Really? Wow.

It’s so easy and tempting to vote for Daigo, but I would have to go with Tokido as an overall competitor due to his ability to adapt.

i can’t believe you didn’t mention Daigo in all of that, has probably played in the most famous of all street fighter matches ever.

Me of course.

Valle no question:

No other player on that list can claim to be world class in both 2d AND 3d games at one point or another but Valle, Not Daigo, Not Justin…no one can claim that.
