I personally think Marvel has better themes. I love playing against/as Marvel characters because theres always a song to kinda look forward to. E.g Spiderman, Magneto, Hulk especially, Sentinel. They just sound so GOOD! Capcom’s themes are good as well, theres no arguement there. But for me, theres no song that gets me PUMPED necessarily. Besides Amaterasu’s theme. Its awesome =]
Consider it the natural melody of the video game themes they took them from. On the most part, with themes like Amaterasu, Spencer, Chris, Jill and Arthur, I find them to be more naturally compelling, even when the remix is a butchered version of the song (like Ryu’s theme).
Honestly, the only theme I don’t like is X-23’s. That’s about it.
The main reason I don’t like X-23’s theme is because I just do not like hearing lyrics in video game music. I imagine if they made a version of X-23’s theme without the lyrics, I’d be alright with it. I think Deadpool’s theme would also be better sans lyrics.
I’m okay with Haggar’s theme having the minimal lyrics it contains. In fact, Haggar’s theme is one of my favorites.
Capcom character’s tend to be generic and stereotyped as fuck. The only real exceptions being the 3S cast and some of the Alpha series cast. I’m so sick of Ryu’s boring ass quest, and Akuma’s “oooh he’s evil” persona, and just generic fighters in general. I laughed when I saw the first SF x Tekken vid with Ryu v. Kazuya, made Ryu look so boring and generic, even the moves look boring.
As for music, only 3S and SF2 has great music IMO,SF2 mainly due to nostalgia.
