Being able to push through frustration and carry on is, IMO, one of the most important traits a Mak player needs. I’ve lost track of the number of people who came here saying:
new dood: “Hey guise! I saw Haitani/Vryu kick ass with Makoto, I wanna main her too!”
us: “Nice to have you aboard! I hope you like losing, because you’re gonna be doing a lot of it!”
new dood: “Don’t worry, I’m a 2000-2500pp Shoto/Charge player. I have experience, I’ll be fine.”
a few days later…
“HALP! I lost 1000pp in 3 days! How do I get people off me?! How do I close distance?!”
us: “did you read the stuff in the Q&A thread?”
**new dood: **“Yeah! I skimmed (but not studied) it.”
us: “Get your ass reading, then.”
2-4 weeks later the story branches into…
"I quit. I can’t make her work." OR (and the one we love to see the most)
“I realize how hard she is to play now, and I’m not gonna quit. I’m gonna keep calm and choke a bitch”
THE END…but not rly.
I have realized one very interesting side effect of playing Mak, though. She’s kinda like the advaced version of Ryu; as in, she really reinforces your fundamentals skills. On the rare occassion I do go back to Ken, I notice my game with him is a hell of a lot better despite not remembering his combos.
Im no quiter lol im gonna stick with her. The forums here are my bible just reading everything is making me improve alot (i still dash into damage lol) Its hard since I mained boxer. Makoto is different, I will improve tho
