I’ll agree. Just because she’s “Chun-Li Lite” that doesn’t make her a bad character. Hell, that might even be a compliment: her poke/throw game is sick and she has at least like four dominating matchups(Hugo, Q, Oro, Twelve).

I play like half the cast, including Elena. Granted I’m not a fan of her, but that doesn’t mean I think she’s shitty. I think everyone in the game has something to them that keeps them from being “shit”. This includes Twelve: he’s not annoying to fight against for nothing. Sean…well, who cares lol
Also to note, they were still doing Elena stuff at least back then to make her more technical. Kuroda MOV spin scythe delay, rekka style(Think Yang Mantis on Chun from Launcher clMK) for maximum juggle and damage.
While SRK’s Elena guides say stuff that doesn’t even work probably.

*KO Elena denisen vids were eye popping for me because It was how I was trying to play Elena but he just executed a Trillion times better. 5 star Elena is also very strong, which is telling seeing as how neither one of them play Elena primarily or even secondarily. Speaking ss a Elena player myself I wouldn’t call her a technical character but you get much more out of her if you have technical knowledge of 3s. Learning to red parry certain moves and sequences, learning punishes however minute, knowing offensive and defensive gaps and wacky options in tricky situations will get much more out of the character. *
- She doesn’t have fancy hard combos, she has mediocre mobility (I can’t think of a character with a worse set of dashes), her normals are a little slow and unchainable,and one hit confirmable normal that’s a mid. Despite her obtrusive shortcomings she has workarounds for them through technical knowledge of the system, character and options. And you can play to her strengths in such a way that makes her become more than a footsie character and actually becomes threatening by setting up bigger damage through kara throws, capitalizing off of reads and gaps. *
