The video perpetuates a stereotype, intentionally or not. If this is somehow to be linked to the Martin tragedy, it is that events like in this video stir up fear and ignorance, feeding lesser humans’ (Zimmerman) primitive instincts to kill anything that is not understood.

It’s a fucked up situation in general. Making hate crimes a thing is nothing more than putting a Band-Aid over a missing arm.

I kind of like the voter ID laws. There really is plenty of fraud going on, and judging by the increase in minority votes in many of the states that have enacted them a lot of that fraud is being done by white guys who can work the system because they aren’t required to show their ID. My main issue with the law here in my home state (Texas) is that it is really fucking hard to get an ID. If the red tape on that was cut clear and it made where anyone with the capability to prove that they are an American citizen could get an ID then it would be great. As it is now, though… Well, it’s just a ploy to make sure Houston’s next mayor is a Republican.

fyi the reason why voter ID laws are popping up in states like texas where it is very difficult to get an ID (and will remain so btw) is because the vast majority of citizens in this country without a ID are minority voters. It’s yet another of many ways that they try to keep overall voter turnout lower, because when your policy’s are repulsive to the majority of the citizens you want as few of them as possible involved in the voting.

edit: as far as the supposed evidence from the bank manager that lives in norcal near oakland… gosh man i have no clue why you would see predominantly african american criminals in a poor area populated almost entirely by… african americans. It’s really simple everyone, as economic opportunity decreases crime increases. the lower the economic opportunity in the area the more crime will be rampant, go to any of the highest crime area’s in the country and your going to see a very similar sight of people without money and very little hope of climbing out of their situations. Like would i be shocked if you told me a bank manager from the poor area of brazil only saw BRAZILLIAN mugshots! the horror!
