Whip it, whip it good - The Poison GD Thread

I gotta say…I called that shit.

You wouldn’t allow her to have that much juice and that many overheads AND good pokes plus a projectile. Everyone said I was crazy but I know Capcom and I know their balance thought process.

It’s good to see her get some delicious buffs to make up for it. I wonder how much this will affect her gameplay as it seems like she’ll be more rushdown than mix-up now.

well i guess so…i havent played the new build and i cant make it to LA…I got Finals…so go figure…
ima just have to wait to play it. hopefully another fight club would come around before the year is out, or before launch~

but on the subject of poison. when the game is released i’ll be putting together a gameplay tutorial and a individual character tutorial. it’ll be very basic, but i’ll go into some bnb’s and set ups for most of the cast.
anyways i’ll try to get more info as it comes~

That’s nice but not for me sorry. I like to find my own style of play which has worked well for me my whole life. I tend to discover high level strategies on my own and always looking for the highest damages combo for every specific situation. Let me know if ya need a skilled training partner tho.

I’ll likely be posting the most effective corner combos day 1 as soon as possible. So I’m very happy that poison has someone besides me that will be looking for her potential. I thought I’d be the only one and everyone on SRK would immediately right her off as a joke.

I was extremely surprised at how many people were in this thread looking to take her “for reals”. We’ll see how many stick with her tho lol

Damn double post: Think about her new set of moves now…she seems even more like Fei Long with a Fireball without the overhead rekkas doesn’t she???

why wouldn’t you take a character for reals before the game is even released? Fei long doesn’t have overhead rekkas…

I’ll stick to her, I’ve been waiting long enough for her to be playable again. I’ll admit combo creation isn’t my forte, but I’m sure I could come up with some decent mixups which is more my thing.

i’ve been waiting so long for her to be in a new game I will certainly be sticking with her. I have never picked characters on any basis apart from if I like them or not. I don’t care how bad or good she is.

I’m ok at coming up with combos but I always learn a characters normals first. What are her best AA normals? Best poke, longest poke, what about air to air? Also n.j. normals. Once I have these in my head I go on to look at other things. I don’t feel comfortable becoming a combo master until I know that I have the ability to get in and defend myself.

umm i think you took it out of context again…i was making the tutorial for people who know absolutely nothing about Poison or SFxTK in general.
and again it would be very basic stuff…though i have alot of combos and set-ups in mind already…
and Graphf, if you want to know all that stuff you can PM me, or w/e because i’ve already said those things like a thousand times~
anyways~ im always happy to help if i can.

She’s sexy and i’m gonna use her, that it.

I wonder how the devs go about balancing the characters . Do they all have a certain teams that they practice with and than they play each other?

LMT is no longer an overhead? That sucks.
Are any of the strikes in WoL overheads?

I’m teaming her up with lili… Team Graceful skanks…

^ Good choice, that’s who I wanted to team her up with!

Same. Hitconfirm into something tag cancellable with those gdlk legs (yes homo) then laugh as Lili just tears her opponents lifebar off the screen.

I dunno if Lili and Poison will work well together. The last Poison I’ve seen was very meter dependent, and anyone who’s paid attention to Lili knows she looks EXTREMELY meter dependent. Like most of Lili best stuff is her EX moves, her regular specials are just okay.

With that said I’ve no idea how this new poison is as she seems more rushdown than Mix-up so if they are willing to change that Poison may not need meter as much and that team might work with “new” Poison.

“old” Poison I think a Lili/Poison team would be a trainwreck that has low life and rarely has meter to chug with cause they’d always be using it to be effective.

Like I said if Poison no longer needs alot of meter as well that team could be scary who knows for sure but Id be looking for a tank character to pair either Poison or Lili up with instead of together. IMO of course…

I just finished finals so i can pull all nighters now. anyways. Whip of Love does not overhead either D: but Love me Tender is safer…so its a good trade. Poison isnt meter dependent, if you don’t want her to be. The only Move you should be EXing is Whip of Love for the Tekken Launcher(at the moment is her only combo extender) , and in extreme situations EX Kiss by a Goddess.
I can’t really say shes rush down because she only has WoL to put on close range pressure, most of her other moves, including her projectile get beaten out by alot of things…including normals…
If anything…Poison is like Trish from MVC3. She isn’t great at anything in particular but Poison is pretty well rounded. with her super getting buffed i feel like it isnt wasteful to use it now, as its a liable option to use in combos. It can be super canceled from her fireball and rekka, im not sure about the other two specials.
but i also noticed her overall damage output is low, and with the scaling on CrossRushes, we have to either find links or look into Extended combos for Poison to get damage or to build meter.
anyways ima try to scope out some info. i’ll keep ya’ll posted.

WARNING! THIS IS ALL THEORY FIGHTER FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER TOUCHED THE GAME

The way I imagine Poison playing is that of a strong footsies character. She has a fireball that’s as tricky as you want to make it (delayable, lp exchanges range for a slightly larger hitbox), she has a rekka that is safe on block, and she has some decent looking buttons. MK in particular seems to be something I’d like to be pushing early and often.

Idealy, I’d want to combo into rekkas, either off a long poke, or a hitconfirm in close for more damage, hit the second rekka, tag cancel Lili in, LMH xx EX wall bounce, LMHH, Poison is back in and I can get back to playing footsies.

Plus, if I recall, whiffing normals builds meter, so it’s not like holding a stock or two should be all that difficult.

We can all have a good laugh at this post later when the game ships, but in my head, this is a pretty good idea.

As for now, my main team is Poison/Lili. Bitches rule the world!
Ibuki and Raven are next, though.

Hope Miguel is in. He is like the best character to be included in a SF game.
Sucks I’m not in =(

well there isnt anything wrong with that, as i said, she can be played anyway you want really…its just that using her for pokes isnt as effective as using her other tools she has at her disposal…
the way i used her at PAX was a makeshift zoning/mix up character that relied on any kind of knockdown, whether it was techable or not because you can do alot and have potential OS for either one(yes i cooked up one OS for her PAX build incarnation) but im not sure if that will work anymore. but its fun to use her in such a way because you have alot of freedom in what you can do on your opponents wake up. i feel that if Poison can abuse characters who can’t zone, while being careful to those who can avoid zoning altogether. she can create weird set ups.
a example was when i played a Nina, she would CrouchDash through Poison Zoning game but actually her follow ups are not safe and depending on Nina’s actual position it can be advantageous for Poison if shes up close, because poison has decent pressure game with rekkas and reflector like projectile set ups.

again this was how i used her so its kinda like my opinion. but if you get your hands on her, test if poking works, and if it works for you then more power to ya!

the latest build maybe terrible but Poison is pretty well of…with buffs

though with the previously mentioned Love me Tender no longer hitting overhead, its ok because its alittle safer on block(poison pushes herself out more too) so that helps in abusing this move when needed. Damage also has been Increased to do as much as King’s Giant Swing if the command throw is applied, the kick itself doesn’t do much damage.

Kissed by a Goddess, with the mentioned increased speed of its start up(still not invincible, EX mite be, needs testing) and increase in Damage as well alot of people are getting alot of mileage from the HK version.

Whip of Love does more damage then its Pax incarnation. no other notable changes with the move has been see as of yet tho.

Aeolus Edge seems Unchanged.

her normal throws seem to been buffed in the damage department…in some vids doing as high as 20%.

Love Storm has been Buffed up to doing 40% Damage.

note: Overall Charge Speed for chargeable Specials have been reduced to become more piratical, EX seems useful, in certain situations.

Currently Chain Combos are limited to only being uses to Launched so in essence you can only use them for CrossRushes. however Poison can still get decent damage in with previously know tech.

Cr.MK St.HP are her good special cancel-able normal’s. used with EX WoL can still open the same extended combos as mentioned before, however after the relaunch she can to use Close St.MP(easy to hit confirm). St. HP or Cr. MK(if they fall low) to combo into another WoL or LmT.

hopefully chain combs comeback…
