Whining about Fei Long and Fei Long Players thread with some Hawk mixed in

Just to further explain the weird crossup Flame Kick/CW perk.

When your about to be crossed up, do this motion:

:bdp::l:

In fact, go into practice mode and do the CW with that DP and added forward motion. Keep doing it until your consistent. Now no matter what side your on, that motion will allow you to do flame kick or CW.

When your about to get crossed up, CW should come out more frequently.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the CW shortcut.

Fei’s Rekkas stuff Balrog’s Rush punches?

If I knew that earlier I wouldn’t be so afraid to Rekka against him.

Found out on accident.

stuffs them only during start-up. if his arm is out you get knocked down. tis the reason for constant rekka pressure.

The main thing is that Fei had some nerfs that where completly unnecessary, and from my sesson agaisnt some good players I understand where jumpsuit is coming from. The flame kick had no bussiness being toned down, secondly there was no reason to cripple the Cw’s. IMO,the intention of Fei in HD shoud have been ot build upoin turbo Fei and not subtract. Sirlin seems to have a bit of a warped view concerning Fei in that sense, he’s perfectly okay with all the major honda buffs yet with Fei he seems to hesitate with making him to good.

You DO Sirlin has been maining Fei Long and tearing shit up on Live with him right? I haven’t seen him use Honda in god knows how long.

Are people capable of reversing his momentum online? Fei Long is a beast if u cant get him off u.

If you’re talkin about that xbox live match, all the players he played against sucked. Only one player knew what he was doing and that was Thelo playing Honda destroying his Fei. None of the other players he played knew what they were doing and fell too quickly to his mediocre Fei.

Also, when I still had an xbox 360, rarely would I ever encounter good players.

I’m curious to know just who you have played that’s better than Sirlin with Fei Long, because I can think of about one person who is on equal footing.

When I still had my xbox360, I wasn’t able to find a decent Fei player at all. At the time, it was either honda, gief, dictator, and hawk against my Fei.

GGPO, though very rare, I would find a good fei player and one of the players I remember was Aribon(however you spell his name).

Never thought about this, but during his overhead kick, is he considered air born?

I want to say no, but I could be wrong. It’d be useful against Rog like Higher-Jin said a long time ago to go over low dash punches, which would be sik

I’ve seen Sirlin’s Fei put a very hard fight against some good players. DGV is one of them, and even though Sirlin didn’t win, the fight was incredibly close.

I believe Fei is in an air born state because it can evade some low moves like claw’s slide. Never tried evading Rog’s low rushes with it since it can get stuffed early wit low fierce, rekka kens, or countered with flame kick.

Claw’s low slide on the other hand is hard to punish and I use fei’s overhead kick whenever I think the slide is coming.

Have a video of that match? The one’s I’ve seen were from that xbox live public match that was held back a few months ago and from what I saw, they were boring matches in favor of Sirlin just playing around with his Fei. Like I’ve said before, the only notable match I saw in that group, was when he was up against Thelo’s Honda.

Having played Sirlin’s Fei, I can tell you that he’s no joke. I could say that it’s just because it’s David frickin’ Sirlin, but that’s sort of insulting in a way. He clearly knows how to play Fei Long.

Here’s a question for all, since I’ve been 360-less for the past few months and been relying on GGPO for my turbo fix. Are the majority of all of you playing HD remix on the 360 or PS3?

Simply by not getting stuck in crappy situations.

I know it sounds basic and has a certain “no shit sherlock” ring to it, but it’s the truth.

If I can’t control the offensive pace of the fight(which is essential for Fei) then it becomes a precision surgical process for a good Ryu player.

It basically comes down to the same shit that Fei suffered from in OG ST. No trip guard. That was his ONLY weakness imo. David said nothing could be done about that because of the nature of the game.

Chicken wing mods - I don’t like them, but I can work with them. Especially the short version at close range, but the other two are almost useless to me. Yes you can gain ground with them quickly and use them for some light pressure in the corner but their recovery makes the fwd and rh versions barely useful.

His rekka ken beef up is good. So good that I think toning down their damage a little would have been nice. I still think rekkas do too much damage.

But his flame kick getting slowed down to near Alpha 3 speed?? If pretty boy Ken can keep his shoryukshoryukshoryuken uppercut speed shenanigans then Fei should have kept his. Here is why.

  • Fei’s flame kick was already weak in the ground game(not talking anti-air). Like sagat’s tiger uppercut, Fei’s flame kick can easily get stuffed by shotos with their DP’s. Fei falls apart in corner pressure traps that involve throws/uppercuts as the main weapons. Now that his flame kick has been slowed down the opponent has even more time to and less risk to exploit an already weak counter attack. Even vs fighters with out an uppercut move can simply wait for the reversal and SLAM fei for free. It’s like punishing Fei’s flame kick by giving it the attributes of a missed flash kick…whereas Ken can do a jab dp on a blocking opponent and bounce back to safety or followup with another quick uppercut…yes you can hit ken between uppercuts BUT the window is very, very small…just like Fei’s used to be. In comparison to Ken, Fei was given Wal Mart entrance between flame kicks.

I sincerely think Rog, Bison and especially Dhalsim rock Fei now more than ever before because his flame kick has been weakened. Yes, he had hell before in ST but now it’s become even more difficult because you have to hope you guess right.

i may be losing my mind here, but gief’s normals (except lp) seem to stuff fei’s normals. cr.mp/hp were getting beat by gief’s cr.hk/mk/hp/mp.

also, xup jp.mk (late), cl.mp, cl.hp xx rekka is an awesome 6-hit wake-up combo for just about 60% damage.

other random nonsense i was finding out… apparently if you jump in with, well anything, the next lp/mp/lk/mk is cancellable into super… i just can’t get it to link into the combo.

the highest combo i can do with fei is j.hk, cl.lp, cr.lp, super for 8 hits. i have tried cl.hp xx super but i cant figure that one out.

anyone else got any flashy combos they’d like to share?

CROUCHING - You’re doing it wrong!! Use standing fierce(handshake). Make friends with gief. :lovin:

Standing short is also a great anti air. Use them both.
