Whining about Fei Long and Fei Long Players thread with some Hawk mixed in

Well…now that we’re here in the thread that already exists, do a search for the matchups that you have problems with. The info’s already here and you’re free to comment on it if you so desire. If you have info that hasn’t been posted, feel free to post that as well. That way…we keep all of the information in one place. Yay!

My thread wasn’t fei specific >_< Hence me making my own thread. The characters i listed ALWAYS toast me no matter who I use; that’s why the word “general” was also in the title X_x GG for a ruined personalized thread. Oh well

Believe me…it’s not that I set out to ruin threads. I just read this one sentence…

…and thought this was about Fei Long, hence my suggested solution. My bad for misunderstanding what I misunderstood.

Naw man, Sirlin was sandbagging all the way!!

I almost beat a Honda player yesterday

So do any of fei’s pokes beat out headbutt from honda cleanly. I mean yeah I can trade all day but I want to BEAT IT. Also, I hate having to use s.Fierce to trade with it, as it’s not quick enough to react to the headbutt in most cases.

Lately I’ve been just trying to flame kick him out of it. Usually works but when they just do headbutt in reaction to whatever you do, you’re kinda fucked. Flying kick…headbutt…block / whiffed flame kick…headbutt…blocked rekka…headbutt…yeah you get the idea. Headbutt should be unsafe to rekkas like blanka ball, that’d even up this match a bit.

IMO my hardest fight is Claw. How the hell do you beat him?

Otherwise though, I like fei, he seems pretty good to me if you play him with punishment in mind and work those throw / flame kick mix ups. Meaty arm pit is too strong.

with honda rapidly tap lk its faster and it usually wont trade for a headbutt. it takes major patience but im still having trouble with honda too. As far as vega tho, one tip I can give is to wait at the end of the corner and wait for him to jump on you, when/if he does, flame kick him. dont do it in the middle of the stage against a good vega or he will cross you up and hit you. Someone here can give more detail than me tho im jus givin a couple strategies.

Im having trouble with vega when he does a dive off my wall, usually as meaty. The direction switch makes a flamekick very hard to do

Jump back jab or meet him in the air with jump mp.

Jump up MK works well versus Vega air bullshit.

My big problem is getting around cr.MP and flip kick. Doesn’t seem like fei has any real ground answer to cr.MP and if you try to jump you just get AAed. Most of your pokes lose to slide as well.

HOW THE FUCK am I supposed to stop Ken from knee bashing me to fucking death? Some asshole just wrecked me 10 times straight because i couldn’t stop the shit from happening; no pokes, no counter throws; no flame kicks, NOTHING fucking stopped him from doing it.

Also how the hell am I supposed to do a flame kick from wake? I’ve been trying for the past two weeks and can’t do it; or any move from wake for that matter; I realize the timing is different than other games but this is bull

If you ever land a cross up on a fatty the only combo you should be doing is:

Cross up j.mk, s.mp, [s.fp xx rekka x3] or [c.lp xx Super]

Doing the rekkaken combo dizzies alot also.

At the last second possible and piano for better results. You are more than likely dp’ing too early. ST is no where near as lenient as other games. Try timing your moves later than usual, last second. Only game that is near as hard as ST to reversal is A2.

I also wanted to add:

  1. When doing a CW (lk) that hits a airborne opponent, if it gets 2 hits, its easy to juggle another CW (mk) then hp flame kick. When you get one hit it is tricky, so best to just go to a hk flame kick.

  2. If you get a f+hk to connect, link a c.hk.

  3. Instant jump back mk is a instant overhead.

  4. s.lp, s.lp, c.lp xx super isnt hard to do, and if you mess up you get a rekka. Big damage either way.

  5. Hp rekkas hit a Blanka Ball (hit or blocked) or Pyscho Crusher (blocked).

  6. c.mp is good to beat fireballs with Shotos, hp rekka is also.

  7. Fei can do his CW trap, I been doing it. It only works when you train your opponent to be scared of a lk flame kick/super. Works best when you have a super stored.

  8. Be sure to play with rekkas to find the ranges, most people alway go to the third, I usually do hp -> lp, then mix up from there. From that range you can do a delayed third, whiff punish 3rd, walk up throw, start hp rekka again, or LK CW if they fireball.

  9. Walk up lk dp is DOPE, DO IT!!! Lol.

  10. Double tap lk flame kick is fei’s best option, since it is safe at some ranges. The motion ends at down-back, so if you mess up you just block.

BLAH!!! So much more I know, but my mind is blank :blah: Im gonna start working on finding set-ups for meaty CW to since you can combo after it in rare cases.

Your best bet to stopping tick throws is when you know its coming, stand up from crouch block, block high whilst throwing back. Should usually do it. Dunno about the longer range throws, but Fei Long essentially has nothing to stop it except from well timed Flame Kicks.

By the way, that jumping back mk insta-over head, jeff, is DA BOMB!!! I didn’t even know about it!

THE MOAR YOU KNOW!!!

Thanks for the massive amount of info I’ll give it a shot; after I posted that last night I immediately went to youtube and watched a shit load of old school SSF2T videos of Fei doing his thing; i know all that stuff doesn’t work the exact same, but I got some good stuff from it.

Im getting beaten by a Deejay player called ‘Aegis-FTW’. Everything he does is safe, and has perfect defense with the upkicks. Nice player, but annoying on ranked

Does the walk in Fierce beat all reversals or just some? (Lets say you knock someone down and walk up on em and do a standing fierce; would it nullify all reversals? I’ve done it to Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Guile, Vega, Bison, Honda) are they just slipping or does it really stop it all?

They’re fucking up their reversal.

Fierce won’t beat a DP. It’s invincible. Your fierce is not.

Sometimes you see them getting a reversal message and still get hit by you, thats because they did the wrong one. It happens a lot with shotos doing fireball instead of DP.
