Whiffed DP's

Another good one for when they’re a bit farther away is st.hk, cr.mp xx lk tatsu, hp shoryuken.

Rolling your face on the buttons is also an option. Is it an option someone should ever choose? No.

Resets are for when there’s damage scaling because you’ve already landed a number of hits, NOT for when someone just whiffed a DP and you get to remove 1/3-1/2 of their hp for free.

I’m waiting on my stick to arrive and playing on pad, so I can’t Plink and the c.mp is a bit difficult to rely on consistently (it’s a one-framer I think). It does a little bit more damage doesn’t it? Waiting till my pad arrives to start practicing one-framers and then play around with FADC’s because it’s a nightmare on a controller

It does do a bit more damage but the main reason I mentioned it is the slightly greater range. It’s useful if someone does a lp shoryuken in front of you but slightly too far for cr.hp or cr.mp to land.

s.hk -> cr.mp with Akuma is a 2 frame combo, or you can do cr.lp instead of cr.mp for a 3 frame combo that works from farther away. If your cr.mp isn’t combo-ing, try to hit the cr.mp earlier than you think you can.

Also, if a DP has 10 grounded recovery frames, don’t think of it as “I have 10 frames to punish” because you will recover before they enter grounded recovery. Think of it as “I have a 10 frame window to hit them.” You can hit a 10 frame link, can’t you? :stuck_out_tongue:

Even punishing with just cr.hk on a lp uppercut can be enough to discourage it if you’re worried about the s.hk stuff. But s.hk combos will lead to far more damage, and are really useful and cheap with Akuma. You should practice them.

Oni’s lp uppercut is the hardest to punish of all the shoto lp uppercuts, so if you can do that, you can do any of them.

I’m practicing them at the moment. I’m willing to sacrifice some damage and use cr.lp for a more consistent hit. Thanks for the help!

All this talk of max punish and people say to do cr.LP. Just plink the cr.MP, so that it’s a three frame. It’s really not that hard of a link.

c.mk tatsu DP is easy and works at farther ranges than a c.hp starter, so you won’t need to think about your distance as much.

As I’ve said, I’m on console without a stick at the moment. Plinking is extremely difficult on a controller (for me at least) and requires more effort than it’s worth.

Is it possible to juggle with a DP after a mk.tatsu. It thought it was only possible with lk.tatsu

He meant do a cr.MK into a tatsu. Also, plinking isn’t that bad on pad. Are you on 360 or PS3? PS3 is pretty easy to plink on, though 360 is a tad harder.

when he land from the SRK just hit with a HP and combo from that it will hurt
