i was giving a hard match to quite a good cody player earlier this year, and i was just using basic punches and kicks and occasionally qcbK,fdfp
i think it just proves that you all rely too heavily on the most powerful combinations and whats “best” for each charcater, yeah its true blah blah but try and improvise a little cause you need to, to throw good players off guard, they get too comftable in their fighting system
this thread is more of a forum for scrubs to bitch about toptiers if anything…sheesh. if even 1/2 of the characters on this list were as braindead easy to play as you say they are then any joe sixpack would be placing high in tourneys (or the game is unplayable and not considered for tournament play.) but they dont. i dont usually agree with epsilon on anything but this time imo he preaches the truth.
Well the reasoning behind his tiers was character usage…I guess. I was asking bas questions through someone else who was talking to him directly online. I asked what happened to v-ryu and he just said that all the v-ryu players sold out and played V-akuma…but that the best player in Japan right now plays V-ryu as his main. Him and Daigo are the only notable V-ryu players apparently. Anyhow the way I heard it, kindevu was beasting on people with V-karin at EVO
you i don’t like you ( just playing) but your right about this motherfucker? so fucking cheap, he’s the magus’ of kof. and they should add dat asshole iori and choi and billy random ass.
youre kidding right? to this day i still cant even play magneto. the majority of scrubs i know still can’t even do a ROM infinite, which you obviously take for granted and think anyone can do.
guess what? i play cable and do 4 hit combos. i can win.
i play magneto and can’t do shit.
doing c. lk c. fp sj rh addf lk lk sj lk lk addf lk lk … etc takes a LOT more skill than c. lk c. mk rh XX AHVB
trust me. the latter took me 3 days to learn when i first started playing arcade games. the former i still can’t do.
you put my scrub cable against a scrub magneto who can only pull off ROM 40% of the time, and i’ll beat him any time of day. i’ll put money on it. you know why? because he won’t have the execution to pull off good resets, mix up his rush down, and constantly pressure me. as for me, I definitely have the execution to TK a few grenades, TK some viper beams, and call out some assists, and AHVB any mistake on reaction.
you miss the point. If me and my friends play cvs2 and i use sagat cammy i’m gonna win more against them because they’re so much easier to use than say rock and hibiki.
The ease of use creates a difference in ability between characters in the game not between the players that use them, thats why better players will place in tournies. But whats that got to do with a thread about easiest to use top tiers?
not sure if this counts, but Akuma in st is by far the easiest character to win with. jump, air fb, I win.
Sentinal is NOT scrub friendly. You need to really know how to fly well in order to win with sent. Storm on the other is another easy character to scrub it out with. Rush Away!
Blanka is not scrub friendly either. There are too many match ups with blanka that is free unless the guy with blanka knows what he’s doing. Like vs sak.
I would specify the K-Sagat is the most scrub friendly of all the characters in CvS2. They get meter and damage bonus for free! Random mashing on super when angry is good too.
see, in this thread we’re not talking about you and your scrubby friends playing whatever, were talking about high-level play where people know what they’re doing, frankly who gives a fuck which characters come out on top in some scrub battle or whatever. Sagat IS NOT EASY TO BEAT GOOD PEOPLE WITH. contrary to your skills or lack thereof in the game, you willnot beat good people with sagat mashing on fierce, it just doesn’t work that way. when we say easy to use, we’re assuming in a tourney situation, not you chilling with your friends or whatever.
I know that , thanks. Think about it for a moment. Sagat isn’t easy to beat other people with in a tourny…because the other person is also using top tier characters.
The same difference between the characters that exists when i’m playing my scrubby mates will exist when the worlds best play. so it doesn’t matter whether or not we’re discussing scrub level or pro level play.
Using fierce alot wont get around a nice sakura, but it’ll go a long way against a lot of the cast, and thats what this thread is about. It makes no difference what level of play you talk about, it doesn’t change the characters.
I think i missed the part where i’m supposed to be offended by you calling me a scrub.
you’re basically arguing that sagat beats a lot of characters that aren’t top tier, hence arguing that sagat is top tier himself. nobody’s arguing that. the question at hand is which top tier takes the least skill to win with.
of course, the question itself is flawed because as others have said, it doesn’t take the level of play into account.
at low levels, sure. you can probably beat random fools by mashing sagat fierces. but you could also probably win more efficiently by doing non stop gief roll spds or s-groove bison supers or something dumb like that. at higher levels, sagat takes a lot of footwork, reaction speed and risk taking to win with. he’s definitely not easy to use at that end of the spectrum, and he’s certainly not winning because of his fierce, much less mashing on it.
does an advanced sagat player have an advantage over say, an advanced terry player? sure. that’s the basic definition of top tier. but this also assumes that this advanced sagat has the aforementioned footwork skills, reaction speed etc.
anyway, my vote goes to 3s chun. i do well against people that are much more talented than me and know more about the game just because she’s so simple and straight-forward.
EDIT: same argument goes towards everybody saying blanka is easy to use (though i think they’re just arguing “good” or “top tier” like mullah is).
i was just trying to argue against sabins point that everyone in this thread thinks picking sagat can make you place in tournies. along with what you said i was just trying to explain that people pick sagat because he’s easier to win with. As i’ve already said in the thread, at least at my ‘scrubby’ level of play, cammys hp+hk make her easy to win with!
since they’re both scrubs, scrub magneto can just do hgxxtemptest allday on scrubcable since he’s a scrub and scrubs don’t mash out 'cause they’re scrubby scrub scruuuuuuuuuuuuuubs.
The people on the MvC2 Cable, 3S Chun, and CvS2 Cammy camps all raise some interesting points. But I still think CvS2 Blanka is a solid contender for the least skill to use/win with, no matter how you play CvS2. At least, here’s my train of thought:
If you’re new to CvS2 and new to fighting games in general, you will dominate against other newbies if you play Blanka. Charging moves are far easier to learn than DP motions, 360s, or half-circle motions. Mix up blanka balls all day against people who don’t know what they’re doing and you win.
If you’re new to CvS2 and new to fighting games in general, you will dominate against the CPU with Blanka. Sure there are bad match-ups but the CPU sure doesn’t know how to take care of them, and it’s doubtful you’re going to encounter anyone complicated enough to give a bad Blanka a challenge (ex. Shin Akuma).
Once you’ve learned scrubby Blanka, you will dominate against other people who’ve never visited Shoryuken, can only do small combos, and don’t care about advanced tactics because Blanka’s so gosh darn easy to use in an environment where no one knows about RC anything.
At high-level/tourney play, after all the learning all the other characters have to do to try to catch up to Blanka, Blanka’s still one of the top characters to use at high levels of play. Are there other legal characters in fighting games that are easier to play at the tourney level? Sure. But that’s just one part of a big picture. At any level in CvS2, Blanka’s everywhere.
EDIT: why do I reply to early posts in the thread without reading it all?? sigh well, fuck it.
I think you guys are missing the point.
It’s not “who can you pick and demolish everyone without having skill”. Of course you won’t win tourneys just by picking a character. It really comes down to the skill of the player.
He’s just asking which characters do you think are easier to use, pick up, or don’t require as much work when compared to the rest of the top tiers, that’s all. The first post doesn’t mention anything about the skill level of the players involved.
I do understand what you’re saying (I made the 2nd post) But it’s just an opinion thing… which admitedly, will show hate for top-tiers.
So, coming in and saying stuff like “they DO take skill to win with against top players” doesn’t really apply. This is a given. You’re going to need to be a very skilled player, and know A LOT in order to do this with ANY character. Of course KO doesn’t win 3S matches just because he picked yun. But outside of this, does yun as a charcter require less effort to use than Ken or Chun Li? That kinda thing…
I assumed that people would think of high level play… I assumed wrong in that case, lol.
To note, I menioned 3s Ken being the most skill-less in high level play. Nothing complicated to know about him at all since he has pretty much everything…
Really? Because not so long ago, Tips & Tricks magazine released a list of the highest-ranking characters from the most important arcades or so, and V-Ryu was #1 in several lists, and even made it to #1 in average nationwide.
