no one bitched about it?
I bitched about it, all the Japanese players bitched about it, most of the American players bitched about it
I ask you, who DIDN’T bitch about it?
It was used at Evo because the problems were discovered too late

Haha, “Alex Valle Is Overrated” my ass.
Well it seems like only a few posters are weighing in. Maybe most members don’t care? But then I don’t know how many top tournament players post here regularly. Obviously the non-English speakers don’t bother.
For now I think I will keep playing the CCC2 version since I am a scrubby noob anyway.
AE-as-ST is on reliable, somewhat current hardware, and it does not suffer from the same input delay problems as CCC2. Yes, there are differences, but I don’t see the point in insisting on exactness to the original ST since there’ll be plenty more differences to accept once SF:HD is out. Start learning to live with them now.
Hey, I’ve got that lying around, I could give it a shot. Of course then I would have to change disks to play Varth and Black Tiger. C’est la vie.
We did a tourney with HSF Capkore. ST and Old characters only worked fine.
DC is still better, but if for some reason people wanna keep it PS2, that’s the way to go IMO. Fuck CCC.
If you do go with AE, remember to play on Turbo 1, no higher. Turbo 1 on AE = Turbo 3 on US arcade ST :looney:
Dreamcast, and I hope the gods that we use the toodles compilation for evo if STHD is not out before.
CCC2 is garbage.
hey pablo quick question, have you been having problems with the toodles compilation ST? I was able to play it a few days ago and then it stopped working. Actually Puzzle Fighter stopped working too.
it runs fine for me. Anyway, you would have to ask Capcom for permission to use it in tournaments.
What’s the toodles compilation?
It’s a torrent of a CD image for a a self-booting DC disc, called “TDC Final v2.” It was made by Toodles from these forums, and it includes an english translation of DC’s ST, as well as a memory card save file that has all options (dipswitches) pre-set to be as arcade-perfect as possible.
As of now it is the most accurate console port of ST.
The Total Control Plus and the Innovation Dream Connection II (out of print) are the best PSX/PS2-to-DC controller adapters, if anyone’s curious.
added note: Gameplay-wise, HD Remix’ classic mode is supposed to be closer to ST-arcade-perfect than even the DC version, but of course its graphics will not be the same. (This may be a moot point though since I’m sure we’ll switch to the Remixed mode if it turns out to be even half as cool as it sounds so far!)
New characters can’t tech throws from old characters in AE. NO.
deadfrog, check your PM’s…
Between that and the input delay, I would say the former is the lesser of two evils.
It’s that or the DC version, which is fine but kind of like playing with fire. Except instead of burning things, you’re depending on old, limited hardware.
Spare DC’s are a cheap price to pay for perfection over the stupidity that is ST rules AE.
old? limited? i think the DC hardware is enough to run decent ST. But, hey, that’s just me
Old. Limited. As in, there are a limited number of them left and they’re not making anymore. Limited as in, they’re going to be increasingly hard to replace, and relying on them for tournaments is getting increasingly sketchy. They don’t use DCs at Evo for a reason.
…then just get a Super Gun + ST combo.
Did you not see the part where I said CHEAP?
