I picked SF3. In the same game, you’ve got a bunch of weirdos and freaks like Urien, Necro, Twelve, and Q alongside squares like Ryu, Makoto, and Chunny. Lil something for everyone.

Alpha. Hands down
I guess it’s interesting, the cast of SF3 was probably the main reason the game wasn’t so popular when it first came out. However, there are so many new characters, half of which are good, so it’s not that much of a surprise.
The big surprise for me is that SF2 is fighting hard for 4th place. It’s an iconic game that is well-known because of its characters. How come no love for Chun, Guile, Sim, Gief, Blanka, Dictator, Cammy or Akuma?
I chose Alpha not because of the FF characters. I never even liked playing with them either. It was because of characters like Sakura, Rose, Karin, R. Mika, Juli, Juni, Charlie, Chun-Li in tight clothes, Adon, etc.
Agreed on all accounts. Dudley is how you make a boxer character, you go completely against the stereotype (Balrog would be the stereotype). Hugo and Alex are cool too, decadent foreign wrestler versus young wrestling promise. Though Hugo’s exaggerated size made it a bit silly to see characters like Ibuki or Elena throwing him, but hey, there’s people shooting fire from their hands in the game. They probably made his damage animations cartoony in order to compensate for it.
I don’t like Urien’s character that much (though I like playing as him), but his voice acting is spot on. He sounds bitter/inferior to his brother, just like he should.
I also find Q pretty baller. There’s something to be loved about mecha Sherlock Holmes. The rest of the cast is pretty good too, the only character I outright didn’t like was Oro.
Haha, so whoever said Alpha gets votes for hot females was right!

This probably would have been more interesting if it was between series and not within just the SF series.

It had the best for sure, 3S dropped more then half the cast of the originals, which is saddening.
