Some friend and I and wanting to pick up a Samurai Shodown game to practice every week and are looking for some input as to which game is the most viable for tournament play. Although this is with a group of friends, we are wanting to make sure that the SS we choose to practice will give us the placement should a situation arise where we choose to begin making tournaments with the game.
Yes I know there is that new-ish one with no blood but come on, you can’t lose with 2 and also old school players will play it. Plus it’s out on PS2 now isn’t it?
i just hate it, it’s not as fun as 4 it’s not as balanced as 5sp, but that’s just my take on it, i’m sure it has it’s followers.
BUt having thought about it for a minute tenka could be the way to go for these guys for now, it’s very easy to pick up and play has a large roster, lol i’m turning into a tenka spokesman here, FUCK TENKA
2 and 5sp, the rest are not worth taking seriously.
By the way, if you manage to have good connections with Brazilians, there’s a really high level of comp for 2 at 2df. I thought I was pretty decent at the game until I played them.
5 Special. Highly balanced, no exploits/infinites or the like (except for Enja’s hidden move, which is easily banned). Gameplay is solid and based heavily on mind games, traps, and setups. Combo spam is virtually nonexistant.
SS2 and SS0S are the best ones, then Tenka, then (waay down the line) SS4. I have a soft spot for SS0 but for some reason it’s not taken seriously (I know Yoshi and the old man are broken, but so is SS2 Ukyo). SS1 is too archaic and SS3 is just plain garbage. But really, you guys should just play what you want. If you play long enough you’ll know the retardation of each game and what you’re willing to put up with.
I prefer ss4 over the rest, although the only one I got any real comp at was ss64(so broken yet so fun). Tenka was ass, is 5sp really that good? I figured it was going to be another rehash of tenka so I didn’t bother
why so much tenka hate?? I’ve never played it, but watched a lot of the jap match vids they have on youtube and it seems like a pretty decent samsho game, right up there with 2,5sp.
