i just wanna let everyone know that this is just an exhibition first off. hopefully we can put on a good show and we can all thank vic later if it is. if i suck you guys can just blame me 
but regarding the issue of hf and ce and st characters, unless you are both playing ST characters there is no tech-throw. i didnt really start playing ryu hardcore until hf and daigo is younger than me so im assuming his ryu didnt show up much till ST? who knows, regardless, ill try my best to be in gameshape and hopefully get this event going if time permits see you all at evo!

Wow…u must not have played Anniversary too much. HF characters tier wise were generally placed above ST characters and IMO there’s only a few ST characters that can really contend with the top “pre ST” characters. HF characters can deal with supers by just hitting you with 2 jabs into a special move that instantly dizzies you. Every combo a HF character has does extra stun and leads to faster dizzies than the ST characters. I’ve seen HF characters dizzy from the simplest of consecutive attacks and combos. ST characters don’t have that luxury.
Plus…like Watts stated…tech throwing is a non issue in AE because as soon as someone picks a non ST character…tech throwing is disabled from gameplay. Basically what the game does is disables an ST character’s ability to tech throws. That’s a one up for HF Ryu right there. Especially with the HF character’s high stun and damage off basic combos. Even being thrown after a couple jabs could lead to a dizzy. I’m sure Ryu’s fireball game is just as good or better than ST Ryu’s and I wouldn’t be surprised if his DP and hurricane were better too. ST Ryu has the unique overhead and f+HP pressure into combos but them HF characters can’t be messed with. I think HF Ryu might still retain invincibility frames on his hurricane kick also. Not sure though.
Who did? That game died in like 2 months. I still think ST Ryu is the better Ryu and that mirrors would make more sense but whatever this is still going to be awesome.
Should be HF ryu vs HF ryu. Or anything but ST ryu. No overhead and super bs. Comboing into supers. pshh. Ryu couldn’t do that before in his prime.
LOL. Yeah I played it for all of 2 months also but I’ll remember 2 jabs into throw dizzy and no tech throws and CE Bison doing chip damage psycho crusher traps until I die.

daigo is good in alot of sf games but is he even the best ryu player from japan for st/ae? i always assumed he was 1 of the top players, but that shootingD was THE best st ryu

also, some good ryu players might be good vs the other characters, and yet, not be as good when it comes to mirror matches. why not have them run thru 5 or 6 players, maybe the top 2 teams of cigarbobs st side tourney (who i assume are using different chars), see how they do vs them, and then have them battle each other

Nah man I was skeptical but after I read Watts post above I think this will be cool as dog-face has it.
Having said that - the gauntlet showdown thing they did for the norcal fifth sf4 spot the other day was really fantastic hope some other events in the future try that…
