I don’t understand why people can have so much hatred for a clumsy girl who indirectly hurts people and an anthropomorphic shark who uses a bunch of scientific gadgets and guns when the game we’re talking about is Skullgirls. What is so bad about them? They’re goofy? Is that why you can’t take them seriously?
You don’t think the school girl with the talking parasite hair is goofy? You don’t think the girl with weapons modeled after old cartoon shows is goofy? The ninja nurse that throws syringes isn’t goofy to you? What about the circus performer with the giant arms on her hat?
Because they offer nothing in terms of lore in addition to whatever shortcomings they might or not have in play style. Ur right, I’m not hype for happy sparkly moe goofyness. And out of the whole cast, out of 30 choices, these are amongst the 5 most out of place.
I have no dislike or hate for those that voted for the stupid characters… I just really dislike and hate the entire situation… Such as 70% of the voters having never been to a fighting game tournament… That just really sucks knowing that the people making decisions on what characters get in have little to no clue as to what constitutes a good design.
But in the end they ARE the ones that put out much of the funding…
My common sense sensibilities tells me that these people deserve a vote and the right to be heard… My heart however says stfu and give me the characters i want… Its a weird feeling. But its meh unless minette gets in… That will be the only thing that makes me. Want to go postal… Out of all the characters to vote in… Dan and Phoenix wright… Lol sg will lose any fgc respect that it had… Not that that matters to me… Its just another of the consequences of voting for ridiculously bad character designs.
I just hope that if minette does get in that mike somehow makes her awesome… Like an all day turnabout mode that makes no sense and shits in gameplay… THAT would be truly funny in an ironic sort of way.
You need to stop with the misinformation. All that != likely sequel, of course LZ wants to do a sequel, everyone wants their game to have a sequel, that doesn’t mean anything without someone giving them money.
Just wondering but why is there going to be a second round of polling for the fifth DLC character again? I’m no statistics expert but if the polling is done exactly the same way it’s being done now I don’t see any reason we wouldn’t get almost the exact same results as early as top 16. I hope they’d release prototype vids or at least attack concept art for a healthy chunk of characters eliminated thus far. That way people may at least have reason to reconsider their votes. Otherwise I suspect the four weeks after this first character is decided are going to very tedious and predictable.
Because those who voted for the winner will be voting for something else and that might change a lot. Ravi said that none of the characters had a huge advantage over the others so it can go any way in the next voting.
I agree, this whole voting things seems to be unnecessarily long and pointless. With only one character getting voted in out of 30 for a whole month, the majority of people that participated will not see their character get in. And at least half of the people that voted will not see a character that was selected that they even like!
Then we have to go through the whole process again, for another month? That’s just too much salt.
Anyway I voted I thought this thread was for posting who you voted for, so I will add that I voted for Eliza, and Panzerfaust this round.
I think the voting is fine as it is. Lets face it, it’s kind of a long time before we get to see any of the characters take form and much further down the line, get to play them.
By having the voting being as we can keep interests up just a little.
I disagree. After a full month of voting, a lot of people are starting to become emotional attached to their characters. Characters that are almost statistically unlikely to make it into the game at all considering the cost of making each character. A lot of people are even making the case that if Big Band and Robo-Fortune were on the voting poll, they would not have made it. However people aren’t complaining about those two characters because they devs picked them, they are in to stay.
I think it would have been better if the devs just picked who they felt is best. The result would be the same; that they pissed off the majority of the voters, but at least it wouldn’t have been a 2 month long emotional investment.
I understand that this is good for the developers, we get attached to these characters and so we open up our wallets again next time they announce a new mystery DLC character. It’s good for the game because Skull Girls continues to get funding indefinitely. There is such a thing as “too much hype” I think it hurts the enjoyment of the game overall, because a lot of people will be playing the new Skull Girls, just thinking about the game that “could have been.”
Just to clarify my position. I don’t think there will be any negative backlash in adding DLC characters this way, but I do feel the developers should be more considerate of their majority of voters who will not see their characters get added. They can do this by shortening the next DLC poll by 1 or 2 weeks, and reducing the pain.
None of the top 8 are ridiculously bad character designs. They are designs that Alex put some effort into and they fit with the rest of the cast. If all 8 of those characters were in I would be happy. And none of them would be designed to be intentionally shitty as long as Mike Z is in charge.
