Which DLC character will YOU vote for?

Originally, I was crushed and saddened by the fact that Scythana and Venus lost to Stanley and Minette, who I dubbed too bubbly and light for a dark game like SkullGirls, but after doing some thinking, I was just plain wrong on all accounts.

As a person who creates characters and the sort, I looked upon Stanley and Minette with total disgust because they did not seem appropriate for a game such as SkullGirls, I felt that pretty much everyone else, except Adam, fit the criteria better and the fact that they are rivaling these two, means there was a problem. I felt Minette and Stanley would ruin the tone of the game, and push away people even further. That was my greatest fear. I didn’t realize I hated these two not because they were jokes, but because of my own selfish desires for characters I thought were much more fitting to the world of SkullGirls.

I had no reason to judge anyone for liking a character. I might of got constant shit for liking Scythana, but I don’t realize that everyone got shit for liking their favorite character.

I was scared that every other character would die if they did not become the 3rd or 5th DLC spot, as it is not guaranteed that more will be made after all 5 characters. I realized that no character is truly dead if you don’t stop remembering them. As long as the character is remembered, and still gets fan art of some sorts, they will never truly be forgotten and never die. Scythana will always be my favorite character out of the entire SkullGirls Universe, and no matter what any of you motherfuckers say, It’ll never change.

MasterChibis message really hit me in the heart and made me realize that the way I was thinking was not the thoughts of a true SkullGirls fan. The most important thing is, Lab Zero finally getting work and putting their heart and soul into every character they develop.

In the end, whoever wins, wins. If I want a character in, I’ll just go make my own fighting game (Which I am sorta doing). At least in my own, nobody will ever truly be left out.

I will be voting Annie and Eliza this next round, but vote whoever you want. Like Mike said, there are no wasted votes. Even if your character loses. They will never be truly forgotten. And no character will ever truly ruin the tone of the game, because Lab Zero will make them fit no matter what.

I personally just want dark and twisted characters like Black Dahlia, Scythana and Venus. But what can you do.

You do know that skullgirls is likely to get a sequel, right?

I know that, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Waiting is the hardest part of anything and it’ll be killing me drastically. It’s just life man.

Where did you see that?

Sg co fail.

Voting out dahlia = pathetic

Voting in minette = same

Bah i say. And that shark is stupidity in a trenchcoat.

Well luckily i at least like 1 of the top 8 and have a good amount of fascination for the other… But still… The characters that we could have had! My god the awesomeness thats been squandered on a bumbling buffoon…
Its fucking baffling…

You know what hits me in the heart?

Bacon grease.

IF they can find a publisher who has their shit together. IF. There are no guarantees.

Look, I understand why you’re mad. I’ve been there. You just have to look at it from different angles.

Games that have come from Capcom have ‘joke’ characters in them, usually Dan is said joke character. Under-performing in nearly every aspect of what game he’s in he’s just there for laughs. So when they list Dan or joke character in the list of influences your alarm starts going off and your brain scrambles for battle. You’re actually offended that people would vote in a ‘joke character’ in a giant roster of so many other choices.

You just forget exactly who is behind this game. Mike’s made joke characters work for him so well that opponents run for the hill in a game with a supposedly playable cast that’s 1/16th of its full roster. He’s poured some serious blood, sweat, and tears into his team in said game (MvC2 if you haven’t caught on). Basically the guy knows that no one is going to be happy to have paid for Servbot, Roll, or Dan in the game.

So ease your fears of that happening. Minette might end up being the ‘anime moe blob’ character of the game but even then she’s going to be the best god damn one you’ve ever seen. We have no idea what they’ll really do with her but have some faith in Lab Zero.

At the very least you should be thankful it’s in their hands you know?

Otherwise if you just hate Minette because you hate Minette and you’re not the least caring for her gameplay, well then tough shit bro lol, you’ll need to deal with it.

They’ve been talking about how they’ve been planning 3 full games to be made, and with how successful the fundraiser was, their success in Japan (their have been talks about SG getting a disk release over there.) And the upcoming PC release, I’d say it’s more then likely.

Agreed.

As much as I hate Minette’s concepts and the large amounts of bipolar feelings I have towards Stanley, I think you need to tone it down. I’m super depressed that neither Feng nor Scythana are in but you don’t see me insulting the community.

Your allowed to share your opinions, but please be respectful about it. I’d hate to see you get banned.

I hope you have more than that. From what I understand, the IP is still owned by Autumn games. So to develop a completely new game with a new publisher wouldn’t they have to buy the IP, then fund the cost of the sequel on top of that?

Just gotta deal with it if Minette gets in by some miracle. I know I have to.

*whispers to no one

I’m personally rooting for Annie~

jumps up and flies backwards into the sunset*

If they could find another publisher to fund a sequel, then they could simply license the IP from Autumn Games.

Annie is my second pick since scythana is gone :frowning:

I was very pleased with the results of this round. My hopes for the next round are as follows:

1 "My votes"
Annie, Beowulf
Beowulf’s folding-chair antics are unique but don’t seem hard at all to implement. Annie should perhaps be saved for the sequel for greater impact (much like Yu-Wan and Brain Drain), but since there might not be one…

  1. "If only there were more slots…"
    Stanley, Minette
Stanley is IMO a solid design, his only drawback being a lack of unique (or at least rare) play mechanics. Adorable Minette is the other way around - her style may perhaps be too “fringe” for a roster of 11.

  2. "Right character, wrong game"
    Panzerfaust, Isaac, Eliza
Big Band renders Panzerfaust a tad superfluous, and the output of a tank arm would IMO be more accurately represented in a less combo-oriented game. Isaac, like Leduc and Taliesin, would IMO look better if not super-deformed, and I am still on the fence regarding his time travel gimmick. Eliza’s Donovan/Litchi staff/stance playstyle is at least partially covered by Ms. Fortune (and possibly by the more plot-relevant Annie), and I’ve never liked the concept of taking advantage of simply being hit. Also, I feel that the cast already has enough grotesquerie to go around, what with Squigly, Painwheel, Double and the aforementioned Ms. Fortune.

  3. "In the sequel, if at all"
    Aeon
No gods yet, please. Aeon without Venus would be odd, and not having her match time-bending skills with Isaac would be a waste.

Well my salt mines are mostly empty by now and I will say i am more open to some of the Top 8 being in the game. I just dont want Panzerfaust or Isaac because i wont play them

Or Stanley really.

Not sure if that was meant to mock me or lol
