Which character do you think has the best fireball game?

I’m serious Ken has the Fastest Fireball in the game.

Rose says hi.

She cannot be zoned with fireballs, you’re gonna have to get in there and use some normals.

Rose has to approach Juri ^.^

Are we talking about fireballs, or the fireball game?

Rose’s standing roundhouse is great for stuffing fireballs, a reflect, a great backdash, and a fireball that goes fullscreen, and great walkspeed.

Yeah, in that paticular matchup, it sucks for Rose to throw fireballs, but it doesn’t mean that Juri’s fireball game is weaker, it just means that it screws with Rose’s.

I mean, she makes Guile come to her, and that’s saying something.

Actually, Ken’s EX fireball is the same movement speed as Sagat’s HP/HK fireball and slower than Sagat’s EX

The fastest fireballs are Cody’s EX Badstone and Guile’s EX Sonic boom which are both 50% faster than Ken’s EX fireball. (if you don’t count Supers/Ultras which are even faster)

I do like how Cody doesn’t even get a mention in this thread. I guess having the fastest recovery time don’t mean crap when you have 2.5x the startup time lol

I swear ken had the fastest they compared it in a YouTube video. But sagat has the best foreal game and behind is gouken.

ken has a fast ex fireball but ken SUX as a zooner !!!

Zangief’s fireball is pretty cool.

I’m saying that Juri is the best char in the cast when we’re talking about “forcing other people to come to you”. The toolmix of a good fireball, stores canceling out fireballs, MP counter being a safe fireball dodge, Divekicks punishing a lot of stuff at (almost) fullscreen range and storeswaps building meter like mad forces the entire cast to approach her - Rose, Guile, Ryu, whoever.
That doesn’t mean she actually wins those matchups! Guile is forced to approach her, but if he walks up behind a Boom he quickly corners her; on top of his good buttons that’s a bitch for her to face. But she does force the entire cast to come to her :b

her fireball game is strong only if she corners you… she will aleays have to come at you !!! so you easily win the fireball war against her

Okay, list the amount of chars that hold the advantage against her at fullscreen,
what they do there, and why you think they have an advantage over her at that point (forcing her to go on the offensive)

I’m curious

Guile loses the fireball easily against Ryu? Not sure about that. Guile gains more meter per fireball than Ryu, meaning that he can eventually win the battle with EX booms. He has much faster recovery and good AA to support his booms. How did you come to that conclusion?

Not since AE has that been true. They halved the meter gain on Guile’s SB. He gains 10 meter on performing the move, 20 on hit (or 10 if blocked). The exact same amount of meter gain as Ryu.

That was because the video you were thinking of, only compared the shotos against other shotos which Ken’s EX IS the fastest:

they did do videos for the other characters but never an overall comparison AFAIK

Rose can’t be zoned with fireballs?

Yeah that’s not true without her U1 stocked. If that’s how we determine zoning, then Seth’s da bes, because twitch reactions = no fireballs, no whiffing slow moves, no slow attacks, and no jumping when he has U1.

Sagat is definitely the best zoner - few characters get the damage and spacing he can from AAing - but his fireball game is technically not “the best.” That belongs to Ryu, Gouki, or Juri. Depending on what you like more:

Ryu’s Hadoken, Super, and U1 all do a very good job at overpowering his opponent in fireball wars. Most characters have to take a risk once Ryu has Super or U1 stocked at footsie range. LP Super is incredibly annoying, really.

Gouki’s air Gadoken’s are on one hand one of the most dominating zoning tools in the game, but also one of the weakest. Your opponent might not be able to do much about them half the time, but getting hit by a j.LK is about as scary as getting hit by it. He can blow through zoning with Demon Flips and his red fireball “mix up” (making you guess the frame advantage, if you can focus it or not, etc.) is very effective, especially since it’ll make some characters think twice about burning meter when Gouki might throw a 3 hit for no meter at all.

Juri has the only fireball that goes under basically fuckin everything. It doesn’t go full screen but who cares when it can go three angles, has that frame data, and doesn’t even have to come out until you want it to. Punishing her for zoning is kinda like trying to punish Guile for using Sonic Boom. Gets wherever she feels like when you try to zone her and gains meter doing so, and can just dive kick your ass if that’s not playing out well.

ryus super

Depends on what youre talking about. Juri can literally beat any character in the game in a fireball war. No one in the game can go even with her due to store negating fireballs, and release is an actual projectile, so when it comes down to a fireball war, juri wins every time. On top of this, Juri can actually advance on the opponent WHILE winning the fireball war. Low store, mid store, low release, mid release > advance safely with two possibly two fireballs on the screen and at least one on the screen.

when compared to the entire cast though, the best are obviously Sagat, Gouken, Juri, Guile, and I guess Ryu.

… I got a rock…

Eh. Ryu’s fireball game, top tier? wut. It’s a brilliant footsies extension, but that is it. As far as fireball game goes, Akuma and Sagat for example are just straight up better. The super may be awesome but it happens perhaps once, if at all, during a best of three rounds game. But even then, what is being measured here? Zoning potential? Strength in fireball wars? Punishing people for mistakes with a quick fireball?

And 5th Horseman, can I have a couple replays of Juri murdering someone in a fireball war? I’d think Akuma could probably beat her in a strict fb war but divekicks are evil.

That’s generally how it looks if anyone tries to fireball war her
She builds meter three times as fast and deals some damage while the opponent is a nonfactor

How is Gouki going to win a fireball war against her?
Normal Fireballs are no threat (see: Ryu)
Red Fireballs can be divekicked on reaction from fullscreen easily so they aren’t useable at all
Air Fireball is annoying, but still useless against the triple avoidance of focus/parry/store - it’s good to cover an approach, but not doing anything from fullscreen

But this has nothing to do with “best fireball game” - it only shows that she has the best <ANTI> fireball game. Juri’s fireball is really versatile and a crucial pressure tool more so than for any other character, but I don’t think she can qualify for best fireball game (if alone because it takes her 41 frames to actually get something on the screen).

Yeah, like I said, the divekick is evil because it means you can’t use shaku.
